Trump mocks #MeToo movement

Would you not feel violated if your boss forcefully attempted to take some of your hair or spit from your mouth? Or at the very least feel uncomfortable about him threatening to do so? I get you're a little slow on the upkeep but surely you can grasp basic human autonomy right?

Oh what drama.

Trump's statement had nothing to do with forcefully taking DNA, but rather joked about the sensitivity of the #MeToo movement, and many, many have been making those same jokes because the movement has gone off the rails.

You, like other anti-Trumpeteers, immediately fall on the floor and begin squirming about with outrage.

Fascinating.

Trump mocking #MeToo in Great Falls, Montana on 5 July 2018.

Perhaps the misogynistic Trump doesn't realize that America is 51% female, or that the #MeToo movement was created as a response to domestic violence, sexual harassment and violence, trafficking, bullying, stalking, and exploitation impacting the workplace. My guess is that Trump does realize all of these things but he just doesn't care about and respect women. On the same day Trump mocked the #MeToo movement, his White House hired a man (Bill Shine) that was fired for ignoring sexual harassment at Fox News.

Ladies ... remember these Trumpian insults on November 6, 2018 and November 2020.

What was the joke? You didn't tell us what it was. I suspect you don't really have very much, and you want to conceal that fact.

Oh what drama.

I noticed you're not answering the question. Would you feel comfortable with your boss joking about forcefully taking spit from your mouth or hair from your body. Yes or no?

Trump's statement had nothing to do with forcefully taking DNA, but rather joked about the sensitivity of the #MeToo movement, and many, many have been making those same jokes because the movement has gone off the rails.

We can argue about the movement as a whole, but you cannot deny the fact that the #MeToo movement brought demonstrably nefarious sexual predators to task. Making fun of the movement as a whole, especially when Trump has been accused 16 times for sexual abuse (and who has bragged about sexually abusing women as well on a hot microphone) it's a scummy thing to do to the survivors.

You, like other anti-Trumpeteers, immediately fall on the floor and begin squirming about with outrage.

Nah, I'm just a huge fan of civility. Whatever happened to civility when the person holding the highest office in the land can openly joke about "gently" taking some spit out of a woman's mouth at a rally.

Fascinating.

What's fascinating is how you're willing to let your country, and an entire political ideology fester in dirt.

I don't think anyone with eyes or ears actually believes in their heart Trump has respect for women. Sure, they may defend him but no way in hell would a guy like Trump actually be taking their daughter out for the night if they really care about her.

This is very true. Trump is a misogynist who very openly said horrible things about women. It's one of the main reasons why I didn't and will never vote for him.

If it was a joke, sure. Who's so uptight that they get outraged at jokes?

The #MeToo movement is out of control, because it values weakness, it persuades gullible women to accept a weakened role in society.

I think you value partisanship way more than you value civility. Have you ever watched one of the presidential "roasts?" The comment you're whining about pales in comparison to the jokes about the president at those events.

You obviously never knew about the things LBJ said and did.

You have a lot to learn, son.

What's fascinating is how you're willing to let your country, and an entire political ideology fester in dirt.

This comment makes no sense.

You genuinely find nothing wrong with the leader of the free world feeling empowered to make rape jokes after making

It wasn't just women who were apart of the #MeToo movement. Terry Crews, the epitome of positive masculinity was a victim of sexual assault within the workplace and felt for years unable to do anything about it. I understand your grasp of reality is different from the rest of the world, but #MeToo demonstrably given power back to victims and away from predators who were able to use their higher positions within business and society to get away with their antics.

I think you value partisanship way more than you value civility.

Nope, I'll happily go after the "Liberals" who pose with decapitated models of Donald Trump or call for his death or physically assault political opposition. But unfortunately unlike the Democrats, the Republican party supports, stands by, and elects the Nazis, sexual predators, and bullies of the world.

Have you ever watched one of the presidential "roasts?" The comment you're whining about pales in comparison to the jokes about the president at those events.

You mean the White House Correspondents' Dinner? An event that gathers money for charity and attempts to build a better relationship between the White House and the journalists who report on the White House? The same Dinner that has only gone under scrutiny when a thin skinned Trump who likes to bully more than be bullied suddenly takes issue w

You obviously never knew about the things LBJ said and did.

You mean the same LBJ that went about expanding civil rights for the black Americans and women? The same LBJ that ran opposite of a racist who's only major support were other racists? You're attempting to compare Trump and LBJ and they're not even within the same hemisphere, let alone similar in character. Trump could only ever aspire to be as well regarded, and influential as LBJ.

You have a lot to learn, son.

Ah there's that signature HBT condescension that shows off how badly she suffers from the dunning-kruger effect

This comment makes no sense.

It doesn't make sense to you because you don't want it to make sense. Cognitive dissonance is your go-to in the event you don't want to deal with reality.

He denigrates the metoo movement, yet praises dictators from NK and Russia

The man takes any slight way to personal but then again he is what he brags about grabbing, a *****

Just so we're up to speed here: Trump made a kinda racist, kinda sexist, kinda rapey joke at the expense of a woman he doesn't like and Republicans at his rally cheered and laughed about it.

This is not normal. This can't be normal.

What is 'kinda rapey'. I get the other two out of what he said, but not that.

Considering Trump's exact words were "We will take that little kit [referring to a DNA testing kit] and say — but we have to do it gently, because we're in the #MeToo generation, so we have to be very gentle." I dunno about you, but it's at least a little rapey to try and extract some spit, or hair from someone "gently" and blaming a movement about bringing awareness to sexual assault.

To me that was making fun of how careful you have to be in case someone mistakens something you do or say and start screaming about it.

Was it right? Maybe not, but it wasn't 'rapey'. the metoo movement was not all about rape you know.

Where the hell did he make a joke about rape??? THIS is exactly the hyperbole that drives people crazy. The question should be asked is why people immediately think of rape? That's off the hook weird.

"Trump mocks #MeToo movement"

I should think so ... (grin).

A movement that calls itself poundmetoo is hilarious ... :lamo

Though not a twitter person, it's my understanding that it's called a hashtag, in that context. I wouldn't normally correct someone when they are making a joke, but your joke, such as it was, seemed to conjure the mental image of someone beating up a woman. Using physical abuse as the foundation for a joke is a tricky business, given the considerable problem we have in this country with domestic violence and other forms of assault. Given the cruelty implicit in your remark, and the insensitivity to a social movement that seeks basic human dignity and respect for half the population, it would be my guess that you are just trolling. I'm new here, so maybe I'm missing some clever in joke, but I will say I didn't feel any urge to laugh.

You're attempting to compare Trump and LBJ and they're not even within the same hemisphere, let alone similar in character. Trump could only ever aspire to be as well regarded, and influential as LBJ.

I mean the LBJ who regularly unzipped his britches and took his penis out for people in the room to see and admire. The LBJ that escalated the Vietnam War. The LBJ who was explicitly graphic in describing cows and bulls mating. The LBJ who advocated for politicians to piss in tents. The LBJ that once peed on a Secret Service agent.

You were talking about Trump's crude talk, but Trump can't hold a candle to what LBJ did and said.

Wait.. This is the terrible thing he said? Or am I missing something?:

Trump imagined himself sparring with Warren on the debate stage and told the crowd that he would toss her a DNA kit, “but we have to do it gently because we’re in the #MeToo generation, so we have to be very gentle.”

He's right, so I am not quite getting the outrage here...

Yes, DNA is such a small thing to ask for. Especially if the coercion is gentle! Your IRS returns however, that's truly a creepy and invasive thing to ask for. At least, that's what No. 45 seems to feel.
