President Trump is looking into revoking the security clearances of several top Obama-era intelligence and law enforcement officials, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Monday, accusing them of having "politicized" or "monetized" their public service.
She made the announcement at Monday's press briefing, after Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., called on the president to specifically revoke Trump critic and former CIA Director John Brennan's clearance.

I think this would be appropriate....What the hell are they doing with clearance after they have left their former jobs anyway?

Does anyone recall former heads of our intelligence agencies being as political as these former Obama appointee's after an election?

"The prior officials whose security clearances Trump now threatens to remove should sue him in federal district court in DC for a judgment preventing that dangerously unconstitutional move: Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe, Rice, Sleeper, others. This is a watershed."

"Not even a court deferential to presidential claims of national security can permit a president to punish and muffle the voices of prior officials who dare to criticize him."

Lots of people with TS/SCI clearances change jobs and still need clearance. It depends on what they are doing at the moment.

Also it seems a bit suspicious that all of a sudden Trump is looking to remove clearance from several former employees, all of whom have criticized him.

Why in the world would it be unconstitutional for the President to call for the removal of security clearance of officials from the previous administration that no longer work for the government, and can be shown to be working against this administration?

But what jobs are they doing now? Contributors for media outlets? Surely that doesn't require a security clearance.....If they sometime in the future want to take another job in government where they need the clearance, they can re apply.

They not only criticized him, the whole bunch of them are corrupt Obama admin pukes. Not only should they lose their clearance, the lot of them should be in jail.

I don't know, but it's possible that they do something consulting or otherwise. Do you know what they are doing?

The point is that the blanket statement isn't correct. There are plenty of roles and careers outside of government that require TS/SCI clearance.

And I'm sure you have evidence of crimes committed to throw them in jail? Or is it that in your world criticizing Trump should be against the law?

It's a joke to suggest that anyone in this administration cares about the purpose of security clearances.

Trump having security clearance makes all the rest a mockery. He needs to lose his the day he leaves office.

But no matter what kind of petty punitive actions Trump & Co. make against members of the Obama administration, the members of the Obama administration will all still have more credibility and still know more than Trump who couldn't comprehend his daily briefings even if he did pay attention to them, which we know he doesn't do.

If I recall there were plenty of retired Generals and former FBI and CIA employees appearing regularly on FoxNews during both the Bush and Obama administration. Some of them even wrote tell all books.

I sure don't

trump has been giving away our assets, methods and sources for 18 months. I can’t for the life of me figure out why Republicans won’t pull the plug on this catastrophe for a President Pence.

Think about it. Pence is a smooth operator. He’s eloquent. He’s a Holy man. He’s sane. He was a congressman and a governor. He’s as ready as anyone in the GOP to be President.

And, cynically, he’d help mitigate your election losses the next two cycles. It would be to your ‘long game’ advantage for the GOP to start the impeachment process.

So, you don't know what they are doing beyond being contributors for CNN, but you think they should keep their clearance why? Can they not re apply if they need one?

It should be revoked automatically after a period of time unless it's needed. Of course, they could probably extend it just by signing on as a consultant somewhere. I don't see this going anywhere.

Timing, timing, timing...........

Given away our assets? like what Uranium? Oh wait....

I don't know what they are doing, they may have some other jobs that require the clearance.

You have no clue what they are doing and no reason to remove their clearance. You're looking to break protocol merely because they dared to criticize the President.

Who knew being Putin's minion would be so complicated?

I see you didn’t process anything I said about what is happening at this present moment.

trump gave away Israeli assets in the White House to the Russians with no witnesses. Sound familiar?

Ok, so when Trump leaves office in 2025, he should keep his clearance?

lol, lighten up Eugene......

Until it expires. As far as I know, Presidents tend to keep their clearance until it expires. Is that not the case?

I'd say whatever is standard for Presidents who leave their position.

Do you have any clue how the security clearance works?

Who knew being Putin's minion would be so complicated?

As Rosenstein said, this is not about being a Republican or a Democrat. It’s about being an American. Pence will be on the spot like no other with his first speech as President.

In the memory of my lifelong Air Force Father and my Creator, I owe it to my Nation to pray for Pence to be a stable and successful President. After that, we can get back to debating the ISSUES.
