Of many things Trump has said that I’m dubious about, this actually strikes me as plausible.
Is it something you would do? If the folder was on the nightstand (why is it there?), I might do it once. I'm not going to use an 8 x 10 folder to cover a landline phone every day. That makes no sense for anyone, but we're talking about the POTUS. I expect the POTUS to be a bit more organized than me.

Personally, I just wouldn’t have a landline next to my bed if it bothered me but, honestly, it really doesn’t strike me as being this crazy wacky thing. My dad was real sensitive to those type of electronic lights at night and he’d use anything handy to block it.

He was probably reading through it as a night night book, loving himself for having it and just reached over and laid it on his phone. The lights from the FOX home page are hella bright!

Yes, I get that. Said I'd do it myself.

1) What was a classified folder doing on the nightstand?
2) Why would anyone use such a folder more than once?

If I had done that once, I'd wake up the next morning, sober, and wonder why I didn't just put the phone on the floor.

Is our ex-POTUS stupid?

Yeah, it's the "handy" part that's questionable. lol

Propaganda for the simple minded to feed off of.

Was that the folder with the love letters from his hero, the Chinese dictator? I'm sure there was a box of tissues next to that classified folder. I don't know why light should bother an idiot who looks directly into the sun during an eclipse.

One thing I’ve learned over a number of years is that just because I’d do something differently, it doesn’t mean everyone else would as well. I have an old time clock radio next to my bed with a digital display. It’s actually a pretty tall and if I wanted to cover the lights it would take something kinda large to cover it. A folder would actually work pretty good. You are right though, that I would ultimately just move it if it were a problem for me.

Except we're talking about the POTUS. The story is unbelievable. It's a joke, actually. Nobody does stupid things repeatedly. If the ex-POTUS is too stupid to have his staff tape the light, then he's too dumb to be POTUS. That, or his lawyer is lying. I'm going with lying.

Stop feeding off of it then.
Recall, the subpoena he was served, and which he did not object to, requested everything marked top secret/confidential etc. Not just folders that may have those documents inside.

Seriously, this explanation is so freaking stupid I can't believe even Trump's lawyers offered it.

I actually just had a similar issue with a new charger I bought - it had a huge blue light all around it that glowed bright at night. I tried putting a piece of clothing on it, that didn't work. Next night, I tried taping black electrical tape over it, still didn't work. So it took me 2 days to get rid of it.

I guess I could have just grabbed the "americanwoman's super secret classified documents" folder that just happens to be close to my nightstand and put that over it. 😄 Because you know a FOLDER is sure to hold in the light. 🤦‍♀️

Are you sure this isn't from an SNL skit?
LOL, I posted my Jon Lovitz reference before I saw your comment. We are in the ****ing Twilight Zone.
