Trump issues 90 day pause on some tariffs

There is no way what Trump is doing is the right way to do anything.

Walmart shoppers, possible the country's most price-sensitive shoppers, within a month or so will see their weekly shopping cart inflated 145%. That's 1.5X added on top of their normal bill.

A $200 weekly cart goes to $500, if it contains 100% Chinese goods.

But it appears around 70-80 percent of Walmart's products are Chinese. If the cart contains 70% Chinese goods, it goes up to $410.

Do you really relieve believe an instantaneous inflation of a 200 dollar cart to 410 is appropriate? Especially to this demographic of shoppers?

There's no way this is the right way to go about it.

Mark my words: If Trump sticks to his 145% Chinese tariffs, in short time some Trump supporters are definitely going to rue the day they voted for him. I have no doubt.

And many, many WalMart shoppers are the very voters who put Trump in power. I hope they will be sending Trump thank you notes for increasing their cost of living. They love taking their bitter medicine, while Trump spends time cheating at golf and winning another “championship”. Thank you sir, may I have another?

Economists who have actually run the numbers, like those at the Yale Budget Lab, estimate that the April 9 tariff regime will raise consumer prices more than the April 2 regime because of the extraordinarily high tariff rate on Chinese imports.

Specifically, the budget lab estimates that the latest version of Trump’s trade war will raise consumer prices by 2.9 percent. This is roughly ten times the probable impact of the infamous Smoot-Hawley tariff of 1930, when international trade was much smaller.

I got this in an email this morning.

Just to make sure it was real I went to the website and there was a news release there as well.

Trumpists cannot comprehend the damage they are doing.

The CCP is #3 for US trade.

Canada is #1 and Mexico is #2.

Trump's tariffs are screwing each of 'em, China especially.

China's exports to the USA are 3% of China GDP which is between 2% to 4% growth. Beijing says its GDP target this year is 5.5% which is a laugher.
You are correct of course, I should have said China is our largest overseas trading partner. Ooooops.

And the best part is…

They voted for it.

These results were entirely predictable.

Unless they really believed what Trump sold them during his campaign. It was a higher stock market and lower prices and inflation. Was he winking when he made these promises and only his voters were in on it? I don’t think so. This points out the cult like nature of his following. He sells them on one thing, does the opposite, and they still can’t quit him.

Worth a watch at just over 5 minutes. Trump is ****ing us.

Trumpists cannot comprehend the damage they are doing.

Some truly can’t comprehend it, can’t discern fact from fiction, many do comprehend it but just refuse to ever admit it.

The latter is even worse than those who can’t comprehend it.

All Republicans ever do, is use the debt as a bully club and then explode it the first chance they get.

You have zero credibility to say things like this.

ZERO.
Not excusing spending for either party.
I guess you must be a huge fan of what DOGE is doing.
Oh, and your accusations carry ZERO weight.

DOGE is doing nothing constructive.

You’re supporting people who are full of shit.

we have no idea what doge is really doing.
if they allow an independent auditing organization evaluate their true cost savings and true impacts on government efficiency, then maybe we know.
until then they are just smoke and mirrors and chaos.

If they were capable of understanding they would not be Trumpsters
Or, alternatively, there are a bunch of them who are so lost in their self-centered grievance fantasies that they believe in burning the whole system down.

As if they'd be better off in a post-recession America.
