Trump is a Russian traitor

You again?

Well, just because the US has been screwed for decades, that's no justification to keep getting screwed.

btw, the UK doesn't dare try to close US bases. They will lose a BIG chunk of their economy.
It’s good we’re flushing MAGA down the toilet with every election. They’d really **** this country up if we let them be in charge of things again.

By US bases?

How?

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump again said Wednesday that if he returns to the White House, he would not defend NATO members that don’t meet defense spending targets, days after he set off alarms in Europe by suggesting he would tell Russia to attack NATO allies he considered delinquent.

Speaking at a campaign rally in South Carolina, he retold the story of his alleged conversation with the head of a NATO member country that had not met its obligations. This time, though, he left out the line that drew the most outrage — encouraging Russia “to do whatever the hell they want.”

“Look, if they’re not going to pay, we’re not going to protect. OK?” he said Wednesday.

Coincidence that a healthy-appearing Novalny was dead a day or two later?

Hidden translation transcripts of secret meeting with Trump? Trump looking beat up after his Helsinki meeting with Putin, who looked to be on top of the world?

Trump is a traitor for Russian & so are all the repug legislators who are now against helping Ukraine. They all deserve to be impeached as tools of Trump & Russia. These sniveling traitors just took 2 weeks off with no help to Ukrine.

Yep, the US promise to help Ukraine "as long as it takes" has turned into ashes in the mouths of government officials, not the least of whom is Joe Biden. Sadly, the US didn't have the right stuff to last two full years of just material aid, without having to provide any soldiers.

Putin understood our fatal weakness or decline in 30 years from leader of a huge US military and allied force to rescue Kuwait to a feckless and weak kneed gifter of scrounged military equipment who has lost its nerve.

LOL!!

You don't think your country allows US bases for free, do you?

Don't be naive.

The US pays a pittence for UK bases that's not why the UK has a decent economy.
I wouldn't imagine it's even in the top 500 tax earners for the UK government.
Why would we charge all ally exorbitant rates to base here, it makes zero sense?

I guess you think the US ought to just keep financially supporting all the nations around the world and let them stiff us on the bill. Trump told NATO they need to share the costs and that's a good idea. Our allies, at least some of them seem to think we owe them something they are not willing to pay for.

Perhaps he thinks that Trump is a simple minded fellow, now digging deep in his thin stack of old material to prop up the another tough guy act, also getting old.

The guy feeds off a diet of dated tropes, using increasingly strained gaslighting and retread slogans; how many time can you use "Make America Again" over and over? My gosh it was borrowed and corny material the first time he used it.

Doesn't anyone tell Trump its time to find fresh material?

You will never see (or hear) Trump laugh.

Interesting times.

Trump has all the instincts and personality traits to be an autocrat, but he doesn't have the organized thinking necessary to create a system of autocracy. Most autocrats are grounded in some kind of "ism", a system or way of thought that others can share. Hitler, Peron, Mussolini, Stalin, and even Putin have a system of belief, however crude, others can share in.

Trump can't think in such organized terms, his "system of belief" is whatever impulse he has in the moment or meme that gets the crowds hooting and foot stomping. His criticisms are simple minded one liners and personal insults of others. He doesn't have a system of belief, nor even a narrative of "them" vs "us" other than they are "the press" and "the democrats" and "Biden".

All of which leads to chaotic administration not bound by an ideology or uniform understanding of reality, but by whoever Trump thinks "looks the role" or "is a great guy". And his only concern is their personal loyalty to his unpredictable spasms of decision making.

All of this leads to Trump being a poor leader and unique mindset. Hence, 100 or so Republican experts in various areas of policy wrote a statement refusing to work for him, and all those who joined his administration and who thought they could help him grow in office ended up leaving ASAP. In the end, only a few with very thick skin and great patience remained (eg Miller) but most ended up leaving and writing tell alls on how stubbornly insane the man was.

So now is where is he going to get his advisors and dept heads? From backwater Christian colleges, conspiracy circles, and night school law graduates?

One good thing is that Trump isn't smart enough, shrewd enough, or organized enough to be a threat to democracy. Nobody can actualize the way his mind works, or truly determine what he believes in, other than his belief in himself.

it worked before - nothing else did, you have to call them out on NATO spending.
On the positive side Europe is increasing their defense spending, i dont know exactly but i believe even Germany is stepping up

Great. Now you can pay for your own war in Ukraine as well, and the USA can focus needs elsewhere instead of holding Europe's hat

It didn't work much, and we owe a nod to Putin because he did more to energize, fund, and expand NATO than a score of Trumps born and unborn. At this point his NATO meme is a tired and worn out issue - so the only one's that get excited about it are those who think its still 2016 or those just can't let an old grievance go.

It's like a divorced spouse that is still bitching about her ex seven years after a divorce - enough already.

Nato expansion started before Trump. your timeline that Trumps call for NATO to pay up was overrun by Putin doent clik
That divorced spouse may be coming back, and he's coming with America first.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine does not affect a vital national security interest of the United States.
Russia cant even take the Dnieper
Meanwhile, there is a gathering storm in the western Pacific that does affect a vital national security interest of the United States. Our most important alliances today are in the Indo-Pacfic (Japan, South Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and hopefully India), not in Europe. NATO accomplished it mission. It was never meant to be a permanent or eternal alliance. Lord Palmerston and George Washington were right.
