Trump hints that he may skip Harris debate.

Seems like the campaign wants them off and Trump isn't too sure, he'd like to be unleashed and have them on, but I'm not sure he trusts himself - that's where Kamala's got him, at least for now.

Agreed. I doubt either campaign really wants the debate.

Why do I need to quote something that I posted a link to? You can follow a link right?
BTW, Trump said himself that he might skip the debate. Given his long history of cowardness, it wouldn't be a bit surprising.

You quoted a link, and then you abandoned the article that it clearly looks like you didn't read. If you had read the WA Post article, you wouldn't have opined what you did in your O/P. Your article did not state what you wrote. It stated what I wrote above.

Trump said a lot of stuff talking in circles, starting with,

"It doesn't matter to me"

He obviously got caught flat-footed, and had to reverse himself.
Trump’s most effective campaigning is happening right now with his media surrogates.
With the split picture in the front room, when she’s not watching tv, I’ve got both 🦊 and newsmax.
These people are dangerous and not to be underestimated.

The above is indeed accurate.

Harris is doing what she successfully did since day one - she takes the imitative throwing Trump off-balance, forcing him to react to her.

We'll see if Trump really wants the debate. Harris is giving him an off-ramp, if he wants out. I suspect she doesn't really want the risk of a debate while she has the upward momentum. I can't blame her.

It's an interesting ploy on her part.

She isn't throwing him off balance though. She is throwing herself off balance because she is now trying to change the rules to see if Trump drops off.

Trump wants the debate but with the original rules they agreed to. Closed mics. I think he found out he does much better having the mics silenced. Many of thinks he does better. I think Harris knows it too. Sometimes experience is the best teacher. Glad Trump learned from the past.

Harris sets the narrative forcing Trump to react? And Harris is throwing herself off-balance?

Did you see the Tweet earlier in the thread where Trump went in circles to formulate a response to her "off balance"?

Obviously. That's why Harris played her gambit. Now, we'll see how badly Trump desires to debate.

I read the article before I posted the link. Otherwise, how would I have known what link to post? Geez, Kamala has all of you MAGAS discombobulated......lol
BTW, I think that is hilarious.

more shameless trump dancing on graves:

MAGA turning against men & women in uniform may be one of their most deplorable qualities.

I don't think Harris has a problem with debating. She is yanking Trump's chain here. The muted mic actually worked pretty well for Trump in the last debate. It kept him under control. The Harris campaign is challenging the campaign to let him off his leash.

Well whatever she's doing, she got into his head and a reaction from him.

I'm also blown away by Harris' technique of ignoring Trump's political overtures. It's pretty amazing, to be honest. She simply dismisses him, leaving him fuming on the sidelines.

I think it's brilliant.

Jeez Chomsky, he was just discussing it. He didn't "reverse". You are dramatically twisting what he said by purposely cropping and deliberately avoiding full context.

I know he wanted open mics with Biden, and I bet he wants them open again. Trump ALWAYS wants to be free to talk and be heard. But Republicans on media, his campaign advisors, posters on this forum, etc. all liked the idea of the shut off mic and thought it would be bad for Biden and good Trump. And that turned out to be true in the most painful way for Biden and Biden's goals. But I can certainly see how Trump would disagree. He loves to be the one talking and never wants to shut up. I bet he grimaced after that debate when everyone told him they thought it worked out great. Trump would never see it as an advantage for him to be quieted, lol.

It's not unlike his campaign advisors wanting him to use a teleprompter and Trump hating the idea. Trump thinks his natural interaction with the crowd is far better than some script someone else wrote. As I once opined on this forum, Harris can't breathe without a teleprompter and Trump can't breathe with one.

I'm sure Trump doesn't want his mic cut but I'm also sure his campaign advisors REALLY want his mic cut. And Trump, in very typical Trump style, was just talking it through. You (universal you) can't crop that short chat Trump had about it and claim gotcha with a small part of it. There was no gotcha or reversal. It was a comfortable voicing of likely some very honest opinions of Trump's.

I don't think Trump views this as a jam. The GOP has plenty of tape of Harris and that's what they'll run against if she continues to refuse to do interviews and if they don't debate. I do think, not only Trump but at least half of America, thinks ABC will give Harris the questions in advance - and I think that's why this is the only interview she'll agree to. She's very obviously and openly avoiding any others.

Did you watch the Jon Karl interaction with Tom Cotton? I think it's important that Karl now produce the video (clearly showing the when and where) of Harris personally stating/discussing her supposedly revised opinion about employer-based health insurance and Medicare for all. Karl doubled down on the fact that she said that view has changed, and I think we need to see it. Otherwise, ABC is proving they are absolutely willing to lie in their in the tank quest toward assisting Harris and being willing to openly lie on air to provide that assistance. I know I am very certainly looking forward to seeing the video of any significant public appearance where Harris previously and personally discussed that specific (supposedly) changed policy view. Karl was clear that it has been Harris and not simply some other Dem discussing her change.

I don't think Harris is going to back out of any debates.

Thinking about this…

It seems people are now back to focusing on whether Trump will debate and are totally picked into sept 10, no matter what happens.

The media for the next 2 weeks will likely continue to be this.

Well, he went from not caring to caring. But we don't know where he stands on the matter. Got to wait for him to take the temperature.

Trump's biggest problem might be that Harris is defining the election in terms of freedom, democracy, character, and integrity.

Trump can talk policy technicalities all day long, but he can't figure-out how to respond to her on the bigger issues Harris has used to define the race.

This race has become about the individuals, not policy. And Trump - the person he is - has issues in that context.
Oh my. We'll see if her freedom (that - from the massive government Dem party, LOLOLOL!) and joy trump the economy, inflation, the border, and foreign policy. "Bigger issues" - whew, I don't know about that Chomsky. But certainly understandable because Trump holds onto the actual "bigger" issues.

I'd bet my bottom dollar the Harris campaign already has some high-viewing media event prepared to compete with Trump & Fox on the 4th SEP.

If anything, Harris' campaign appears media & PR savvy. Look how she filled Trump's Milwaukee stadium with a record crowd above the RNC's levels, while simultaneously filling Chicago's United Center for the DNC? It was a stroke of genius, and a real show of force.

If anything, Harris' campaign is creative & aggressive. Trump must be spinning.
Definitely - likely Taylor Swift or Beyonce ;)

It does take some serious creativity to prevent a candidate from ever speaking off script. I have to agree with that.

MAGA turning against men & women in uniform may be one of their most deplorable qualities.
An ex-President and traitor got to do a ceremony at Arlington today.

One of our greatest challenges is to get through their media maga force-field.
Their media prevents anti-trump and anti-gop ads,

but has to show the big DNC speakers.
Such outlets as Newsmax had a running line ‘correcting’ DEM Speakers. 😂

Harris and Trump need to go their separate ways

and get free National media, like Trump/Vance, for the next 71 days
