Both are great ideas. I never understood tax on Social Security. It's money the government is paying out, and then the government taxes it? Absurd. I've had that in mind since the 1980s.

And tax on tips is absurd, too. The wait staff should just keep the money. Anyone who wants wait staff to make more money should support that.

Waitresses at Denny's aren't the only workers who rely on tips. A crap dealer on the strip is going to make $100k easy. High-end dealers in Vegas and elsewhere can make more. Putting a limit on the amount that can be deducted may be a workable idea, but the loss still has to be made up somewhere. Letting someone earn $200k tax-free would be ridiculous.

Tipped jobs can be very lucrative. I worked them in my 20s. I had many $500+ days back in the '80s. Winning gamblers can be very generous.
