Trump had a freaking CUE CARD to help him remember to say "I hear you"

Oh, come on!

What point are you trying to make? It's not cue cards to show empathy but terms that have only recently been incorporated the dialogues. In other words, it's speaking in your audience's language.

He was born without the gene that produces empathy. Somebody has to tell him how it's done.

For a moment I thought number 5 said, "I love you," and I wondered if it was ivanka or hope hicks who wrote it

lol. I guess they learned after the Gold Star widow mess that this man needs empathy cue cards.

Oh, come-on!

Yeah, Trump sucks. But there's nothing wrong with his cue card. He's smart, in having one.

Good for Trump for taking cues and making the effort to ensure that he's doing everything he can to facilitate communication and a sense that he truly hears everyone.
Trump is not warm and fuzzy and yeah, he's not effluvious in ways many people seems to need a President to be.
But I think he's is and will continue to be far more effective on the conversions.

Disagree, unless you are being facetious. Who needs a cue card to tell him, "I hear you," when a child is talking about losing his best friend? Who needs to be told to do that??

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the TRUMP honesty and transparency....he did not even try to hide what he did.

There is way too little of that in America now.

I thought he did relatively well, but why need a cue card to say, I hear you?

I am just guessing here, but I think that his point is: GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES, MAYBE GIVING COMMENTS THAT ARE UNSCRIPTED AND "FROM THE HEART" MIGHT HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE!

Sorry to others for the use of caps, but geez..........:(

I agree. He's not a robot - he's a human being. I'm sure the meeting was emotional for all involved including him. He wanted to make sure he remembered what he wanted to say.

Someone who hasn't had training in grief counseling and managing people in shock and crisis.
Trump's staff understands that the media waits for any little morsel to pounce on, and you mock why he has cue cards to ensure he does everything he can to let these traumatized and grieving people know he's listening?

The question isn't about who needs a cue card. The question is about who looks at a prompt which might help Trump keep the trust of people who are in pain, be open with him and keep them comfortable speaking aloud, and thinks it's something to further hate him for?

Seriously. Can Trump's haters ever, ever stop for second and let this one thing where people are grieving NOT be about them?

What's important is if Trump's guest felt they were heard, and I truly hope they did.

So you don't think it's odd that a 71 year old man needs to be told to be empathetic to a room full of grieving students and parents?

You don't think that's just a little odd?

You don't need a ****ing cue card to be empathetic.

Stop making excuses. It's starting to look ridiculous for the lot of you.

You are cheering it here, because you are a fair and honest guy.......

RIGHT?

Contraire. I think that it is sad the way that he conducts himself. Now, at such time he starts acting in an respectable manner, I wil gladly say so. Trump lies constantly. If you are not able to differentiate when somebody is pissing down your leg and telling you it is raining, that is not my fault.

Would you care to debate yesterday's lie about Trump doing more to punish Russia- in his first year - than Obama did in eight years? We can start there and then go in reverse order. We will then have only a hundred or so other lies to discuss. You may like his policies and that is fine. That said, Trump is both an habitual and patholigcal liar. Period!

EXACTLY. You only need a cue card to help you remember to at least sound like you care when you likely don't. Like everything else, Trump only cares about "saving his own ass" with the Mueller investigation closing in.

In fact, that was the jest of his FBI tweet on the subject of the school shooting.
