Trump floats idea of his own news network to counter CNN
“CNN is a voice that really seems to be the voice out there and it’s a terrible thing for our country,” Trump said, diverging from his speech on protecting Medicare for seniors at an event in The Villages, Fla. “We ought to start our own network and put some real news out there, because they are so bad for our country.”
“We’re looking at that. We should do something about it, too,” he added. “Put some really talented people and get a real voice out there, not a voice that's fake.”
The president initially slammed the media within minutes of the event, pointing at journalists in attendance while saying that “the fake news is back there.” The comment was met with an uproar of boos from the crowd.
It’s not the first time the president has floated the idea of a state-run news agency as an alternative to what he deems the “enemy of the people.”
Tennessee state lawmaker offers resolution to 'recognize' CNN, Washington Post as 'fake news'
A Tennessee state lawmaker introduced a resolution that would “recognize” CNN and The Washington Post as “fake news.”
The resolution, which was introduced in the Tennessee General Assembly on Wednesday by state Rep. Micah Van Huss (R), would “condemn” the news outlets “for denigrating our citizens.”
The resolution cites one article published by an editor at the Washington Post on Oct. 3.
Van Huss in his resolution claimed that the publication "wrote that President Donald J. Trump has cast a spell on the Republican Party and suggested that Trumpism is cult-like."
(. . .)
Van Huss's resolution also accuses “a CNN host” of suggesting “that Trump supporters belong to a cult and that our president is using mind control” on Nov. 24. CNN host Brian Stelter conducted an interview with Hassan published on Nov. 24.
“We recognize that fake news outlets suggest ideas without directly making accusations so that they can claim innocence from their ivory towers; and … it is fascinating to see this latest 'cult-of-Trump' meme coming from the left, because they are the true masters of deploying mobs to demand total conformity and compliance with their agenda,” Van Huss writes in the resolution.
Now that the senate has given Trump carte blanche, don't be surprised to see CNN and MSNBC shut down for sedition. He could call it 'Fox News'.
I wonder if this idea might gain support following Trump's acquittal on the charges of impeachment. Personally, I'm not a fan of 'state-run' news and he's already got Fox, though he's not been happy with it's reporting recently.
A state-level politician must have been paying attention to the words of his Lord and Master

1. I voted for Candidate Trump and plan to vote for President Trump in November.
2. Win or lose, I hope that Mr. Trump does NOT start another cable news network.
3. FOX is about the best that he can expect.
4. Starting a new network would be a waste of money and effort. It would be a failure. Most people (including me) do NOT want a news network devoted to how wonderful President Trump is. That is not news.
5. If he loses in November, former president Trump should do what he does best: Fly around the country to raise the spirits of his supporters as the Dems take over the White House. He should spend his time helping to get Republicans elected at the local, state, and national level. He is NOT a boring speaker.[?B]
We don't need a "state run" agency.
I don't support US version of a Soviet-style Pravda.
We have Public Broadcasting. C-Span. Then there is NPR.
While PBS and NPR typically lean Left...IMO that's because left-leaning groups inhabit/use it more.

I heard about this a long time ago.
If it does come to pass, I'm SURE it will be magnificent, bigly, with the best television ratings in television history. AND, a bag of chips.
It's just what we need. MORE Trump on out TV screens.
Trump Akbar! Heil Trumpler! Donald Christ Trump the Savior of Mankind!
More of the Messiah! Make America Great Again! Amen!

Considering PBS gets a lot of funding from the government, Trump's idea of creating his own network is not a bad idea. It doesn't even have to be a political show.

It’s a good question, the fake news/enemy of the people has been compromised for a long time.
Tweety fanatics should also have their own Tweetynet that doesn't intersect with the real internet.
