Trump decrees that California is not in a drought

No, there would be more storage. A lot of releases are to satisfy one industry or another.

Again, if storage is ALREADY below capacity, how will adding more capacity change anything? All of the reservoirs in CA, along with those in the Colorado basin (Powell, Mead, etc) are below 50% filled. The problem is and has been precipitation, not capacity.

. . . .
3. It might just be that the human population has over taxed what the land can bare.

If #3 is the likely root cause, then it will never be easily addressed without mass migration and depopulation back to what the land and the water sheds will be able to support, neither of which is likely to be an easy or welcome solution, but may be the facts of the matter.

The reason is that my fellow Americans, or at least a few of them, might actually be so naive as to elect Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States. That is enough to cause an obsession. How can people be so foolish?
I didn't read much, but it looked like he just spent the last few pages backing up Trump's claim that there's no drought in California. Reasoning is a little beyond this.

In what way?

Drought was exacerbated. I'm on phone so can't link the research, but it was published after being researched by a Stanford University.

Who he? Not me. I did not say the first word on whether there is a drought in California.

Good paying attention right there!

Seriously.

it's ok, you can link the research when you're not busy, I'll wait. remember I'm the guy who still writes paper checks and pays people by mailing them through the post office. patience is a specialty

You think flooding in Texas is a joke? I would love to respond, but am unable to do so without being banned. Lucky day for you.

Oh , wow I'm so ,so lucky !!! :lamo

Is all rainwater conscientiously collected and saved for later use preventing any run-off that might waste it into the ocean?

You directed me back to this post and it does not answer my question.

Why are smelt more important than people?

Who said smelt are more important than people?

Actually I think his solution was that he was going to "Open Up The Water".

Hey, remember 8 years ago, when Republicans were mocking a presidential candidate for saying he would begin to lower the oceans and heal the planet? Yeah, good times.

Why is the canary more important than the coal miners?
California's water comes mainly from snowmelt, not from rain in the valley. Is that collected? Yes, by a series of reservoirs and underground storage units.

No... saying he would begin to "lower the oceans and heal the planet?" Lower the oceans? Really?

Who said smelt are more important than people?

Anyone who wants the water that could be used for agriculture diverted to the ocean to maintain the salinity of the water that supports smelt is saying this.

Oh, I think not. I think the ecosystem might be more important than the water for people in the long run.

I don't think the canary is more important than the coal miners. Isn't that the whole point of having the canary down there?

Do the billions of gallons that are drained into the sea also get collected?

Forbes Welcome

I know, right? How crazy that a politician could have such a cult following that he would tell them (and they believe) that he could command the climate? I'm glad that's only limited to those silly Democrats....

You just showed that you are as idiotic as Trump. 97% of one year does not make up for the past decade of below normal precipitation....and that is only northern California. Southern and Central California are further below normal. DOH!
If this were a real problem then California wouldn't have sanctuary cities. Illegal immigrants use up water that would otherwise get used by people who belong in this country. Nothing should be done to help anyone in that state until they change their policy.

Seriously? That is just a ridiculous statement. sorry.

I dunno, some dude. He was running for some political office, or something.

Did he make any other absurd pronouncements, or was it limited to lowering the level of the oceans? I really don't recall any candidate making such a claim.

If we're really going there, California could do without the entire south and midwest. Red states do have a higher percentage of people on welfare. **** them.

More importantly, though, your comment is entirely ignorant. Water in California pretty much all goes to agriculture, and our products feed the rest of the country. If not for California, our supermarkets would either have a lot less choice or a lot more asian labels.

But sure, **** us, **** you, **** everyone until they do whatever political rhetoric of the day tells them to and **** us all when we reap the actual consequences.

if california had water shortage, california would not have all those mexicans, and would not be a sanctuary state with sanctuary cities.

Ask the fed to round them up and deport them, and you will have plenty of water.

dumbest post ever
