Trump decrees that California is not in a drought

I know, right? How crazy that a politician could have such a cult following that he would tell them (and they believe) that he could command the climate? I'm glad that's only limited to those silly Democrats....

Of course, that's another lie.

The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth.

Obama did not say he would make the oceans lower like Aquaman.

Let's just see how Obama described his nomination and election:

generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal....

No one, of course, had ever provided for the sick or the poor before. No one but Godlike Obama could heal our world.

Did he make any other absurd pronouncements, or was it limited to lowering the level of the oceans? I really don't recall any candidate making such a claim.
Yeah, he petered out. He was going to be President, but it came out he'd been born in Kenya or something.

Really. Well, having been born in Kenya should't be a problem. Having been born in Canada wasn't a problem for Cruz, after all.

And, as far as I know, the ocean is still rolling along at about the same level as it has since the end of the last ice age. How anyone could lower the levels of the ocean, or why they would want to, I don't understand.

Now, as for Trump: Can he end a drought? That would be on the same level as lowering the oceans, it seems to me. Maybe he knows how to make it rain. Perhaps he can stop a tornado as well. That would be handy in Oklahoma.

Cruz wasn't a socialist atheist Muslim fanatic, so, somehow, that didn't count for him.

People think that they are more important than they are. Both individually, and as a species. Mostly people who live in cities, I think.

Well, yeah. Through the power of Winning and Negotiating and Being Tough, I"m pretty sure Trump is willing to Immanentize any Eschaton you please,

and then blame someone else when it fails.

Does the Constitution say that a president doesn't have to be native born if he's not accused of being a " socialist atheist Muslim fanatic"? And since an atheist isn't a Muslim.. oh, well...

Even people who live in cities surely must understand that we couldn't lower the levels of the oceans, nor would it be a good thing if you could. We'd have to rebuild all of the ports in the world.

Come to think of it, that might create jobs at least.

Well, of course he'd have to blame someone else, then fire them.

I had to look Immanentize any Eschaton up. Create Heaven on Earth, or making that which belongs to the afterlife happen here and now. Hmm.. could be he might create a Hell on Earth. No, not even the mighty Trump could be that bad. He still has the Congress to deal with. Good thing.

Look, he's a Kenyan atheist muslim fanatic, and he's a communist, really, but they call themselves socialist these days, and they're putting chemicals in the water that are turning all the frogs gay. You gotta keep up with this stuff.

I think people in cities tend to overestimate their impact instinctively, additionally overestimating their presence. It's easy to think that mankind has perhaps punitively dominated and destroyed nature and global balance sitting in the middle of a hundred square miles of concrete. It's tougher to do in, say, Montana.

A compliant, Republican Congress, afraid of angering his vicious legions?

Well, if he's going to be the AntiChrist, he has to have the proper credentials.

people do tend to be closer to nature in Montana than in San Francisco.

Never underestimate Congress' talent for inaction.
