He may have proof...but not be able...for security reasons...to show it. But having an independent agency...a House Intelligence Committee, for example...who can access information and then make a judgment will resolve the issue without compromising security.

Sounds to me like a better way of dealing with this issue...of getting the truth out...than Trump making claims and liberal/Trump-hater useful idiots blathering about it. Don't you agree?

So Trump suddenly got hold of this information at sunrise Washington time on a Saturday - without ANY knowledge of the White House or the FBI?

It is ridiculously obvious what happened. Trump saw the Breitbart article, flipped out and started tweeting away. And the WH and he have been trying to back away from it ever since.

I guarantee you he has NOTHING but the Breitbart 'evidence'. If he did, he would be screaming it to every media outlet he could...that is his style.

But this time, he went too far and the White House told him he did and has been furiously spinning what he did since Saturday.

Trump has NOTHING...and everyone with a working brain and an open mind knows it.

Well, I don't have any real opinion about what would happen on this forum if things were reversed...it's irrelevant because that won't happen.

However, I did suggest reasons...more than one...about why Trump providing proof is not as good as someone else investigating and coming to a conclusion. And it has nothing to do with "trying to justify his actions"...at least from my perspective. You, however, seem to disagree.

So it goes...

Has Trump come out and said he received his evidence via something classified, and he can't release it because it's classified? I'd like to see that. He made the claim 5 days ago and has been silent about it since. I gather he feels the American people have no right to know anything.

Interesting. An adult in the Oval Office wouldn't take to Twitter to announce to the world something he gleaned from classified information. But this is Donald Trump after all. What a swell guy.

Please give us a cite that shows that people on the left generally claim that Trump was in collusion with Russia. That is a bit of an outlandish charge, don't you think?

Moreover, I heard the Clapper interview. He did not say the things you are saying he said. He merely said he was not aware of any wire tap of Trump and he would know if one existed. We probably need a cite on that allegation as well.

People on the left wonder about Trump's connections to Russia and the Russian influence in the US election, but I know of no credible suggestion that Trump colluded with the Russians. Wondering about something and saying it is so are two very different things.

I think you are creating a false equivalence out of false impressions.

There's plenty of evidence coming to light...for instance:

Trump authorized his surrogate, Carter Page to go to Russia.

During the convention, the only thing Trump seemed to care about on the GOP platform and wanted removed....was helping to arm Ukraine soldiers to fight against Russian aggression. Now we learn that a Russian citizen flew all the way from Russia to meet with Manafort during the GOP convention...twice...and poof, suddenly arming Ukraine is removed from GOP platform.

Trump's pick for Sec. of State is a close friend of Putin...and he is now dismantling the State Department as I write. Putin hated US State Department, doncha know?

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.



Here's another tip...don't listen to what Trump and his people say....just watch what they do.

But Clapper just said that there is absolutely no evidence that Trump or his aides colluded with the Russians to influence the election.

No, I wouldn't be okay with Obama breaking the law. I don't know that anyone would be. So because of that, we have a right to know. Trump needs to pony up his proof of this very serious allegation.

But consider this too - if the information he received at the crack of dawn on Saturday about Obama committing a felony was indeed "classified" information, what the Hell is he Tweeting about classified information for?

If he didn't get "classified" information (which is the most likely scenario - he got it from good old Breitbart), he should just put his tail between his legs and admit he made an accusation based off someone's opinion, and he was wrong.

Either way, there is nothing in this story to make Trump look good, and no matter how his supporters twist themselves into pretzels trying to defend it, it isn't working with anyone who isn't a moron.
