"Days ahead of 9/11 anniversary, Pres. Trump announces that he was set to hold secret talks with the Taliban at Camp David in the US this weekend but he has called off the talks after a US service member was killed in a suicide attack in Kabul."

If they were secret, why on earth did he announce they were canceled?

What is saddest is that all we know for sure about this is that anything Trump says about it is a lie.

This is so screwed up in so many ways.. WTF is wrong with this guy?

Since the Taliban was pusted from power over the entire country, women have been allowed to return to school. Over seventy women have been elected to provincial office (like State, in the US) and one ran for national office. While this progress would have required generations before the war, it has been accomplished in a mere decade.

Now, those women win the war. Not guns. But guns were required to give them a chance.

....only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?

I couldnt care less that he announced the cancellation of a secret meeting. If its not going to happen, who cares? But I will agree that I dont like the idea of negotiating with the Taliban one bit. Then again, we need to leave that country to the people who live there. And the Taliban, despite 18 years of battling the US, still exists. If we arent determined to stay until they are completely wiped out, then we have to deal with them

It's not so important that presidents are negotiating with the Taliban but it's crucial that presidents are negotiating with the Taliban through military strength.
