Trump announces that Space Command is moving from Colorado to Alabama

I think the key factors are that they have several facilities used by space command, including the rocket facilities. And again, worth noting, that after a competitive process it was the site selected by the Air Force as it was transitioning - Biden was the one who overrode their choice.
Trump cobbled all that together after he lost re-election because he was mad Colorado didn't vote for him.

Well the thing is that Alabama isn't SO much better than Colorado in terms of space and aerospace industry for the move to really make sense. In fact, Colorado has the second largest aerospace economy. The Space Command infrastructure was already building out under Biden, so Trump is looking to scrap all of that just to make a political move because he's mad at Colorado.

Trump is motivated largely by jealousy and revenge.

US News and World Report.
Link?

Well, it so happens that having a highly educated technically-oriented local work force is pretty valuable for things like "Space Command HQ".
Of course. We have excellent workforcees in many places.

However, if you will bother to look at the post being responded to, that might clue you in to the general relevance of the points made, there.
I see.

You might be surprised, and should perhaps quickly Google up what a "Redstone Arsenal" is.
I'm aware.

I was a civilian Army employee for years. Huntsville is - at least was as of 2020 - the largest concentration of Army civilians outside of DC, except whereas the DC crowd was administrator-heavy, Huntsville was mostly engineering focused.
How nice for you.

Sure, and the same will be true of Space Command. Having HQs co-located is still a benefit.
Maybe.

There are definitely good arguments for Colorado.
Indeed. It's an unnecessary and wasteful move. But it will accomplish trump's goal - punishing a blue state.

Stupid.

Trump announced this move, and was pretty clear it was a retaliatory move due to Colorado using mail in ballots. He's declaring war on blue states plain and simple. Colorado Springs (heavily republican) is the home of the Air Force Academy and an Air Force Base and was logically chosen by Biden to be the home of Space Command. Alabama however is a red state, and will do whatever the king requests.

"These are the voyages of the Starship Trump....to boldly go from distant Colorando to racist Alabama as a means of exacting petty revenge on political rivals whose names he doesn't even know..........................

...seeking destruction, chaos, and totalitarianism throughout the universe!

Oh how history will hound him

This will bring beef prices down!

The move to Colorado was actually retaliation for Alabama not voting for Biden in 2020.

Yikes. Your post is so clueless.
Wrong again. It was already in Colorado when Trump pulled it out of the US Air Force.

It was established on 1 September 1982 as Space Command (SPACECOM), the first dedicated U.S. space command. On 15 November 1985, it was renamed Air Force Space Command (AFSPC or AFSPACECOM) to distinguish it from U.S. Space Command, Naval Space Command, and Army Space Command. On 20 December 2019, after the establishment of the United States Space Force as an independent service, Air Force Space Command was redesignated as United States Space Force (USSF) and served as the transitional headquarters of the new service, but remained a component of the U.S. Air Force. On 21 October 2020, United States Space Force was redesignated as Space Operations Command and officially transitioned from being a U.S. Air Force major command to a U.S. Space Force field command.

You seem determined to pretend dems are as petty and small as Trump.

Oh yeah - I get all that. I think Huntsville would have on-net been the better choice, but Colorado is still a good option, and Trump's decision is clearly made for stupid reasons (even if I think it is still the right long term result).

it's a fairly easy google but sure.

Of course. We have excellent workforcees in many places.

Indeed. And for the work we need out of SpaceCom, the best concentration of such individuals happens to be in Huntsville.

I see.

I'm aware.

Glad to see it :)

It is.

It may be the right decision done stupidly, however, the second best time to make the right decision is generally right now.

Huntsville has their historic relationship with NASA, and they have schools like Auburn which have strong aeronautics engineering programs. But overall Colorado has the better positioning with many space based military institutions, the air force university, NORAD, and a more robust space and aeronautics industry. The command will be fine overall in Huntsville, but CO was better off overall for the program.

Trump could also be doing this in response of Colorado refusing to release Tina Peters from prison.

Could be.

MAGA Baby wants as many election fraudsters as he can get for his election "reform" team.
