I think this is definitive evidence he legitimately has no idea what a tariff actually is.

This is literally the dumbest thing I have ever read. Hollywood’s dominance of the world film industry has never been stronger. How would you even define an American movie? How do you tariff something that doesn’t physically exist? What if a movie’s plot doesn’t take place in the United States? Pretty sure this is also a 1st amendment violation.

The studios are struggling, and the rush for streaming services to diversify their content libraries for global markets has resulted in acquiring and funding co-productions abroad. Hollywood still is a force, but media's going through a sea change in terms of how people are consuming media and this is affecting the studios as well.

It is still Hollywood who rules over all of that, if Netflix funds a K Drama in Korea it is still Netflix in the United States that ultimately benefits from that.

Hollywood’s financial woes are entirely the fault of executives and investors so laser focused on the short term they don’t even see the consequences of it coming the next day.

And it still doesn’t change the fact that this policy literally doesn’t make sense in any way.
 
This will split Hollywood, which of course is a good thing. Winners will be silent, losers will be loud and resentful. Hollywood will eat itself. Nice.

He only mentioned movies....I hope they don't mess with Slow Horses.
