Trump announces 100% tariffs on movies ‘produced in foreign lands’ (1 Viewer)

Liberals wanting the US to be like Londonistan is very on brand. This is why you people lose elections. You do you, Boo.

Haha, yeah. The British lost their empire...all while doing far, far, far less stupid things initially at the onset of their downfall than our country is doing presently.

Based on what we are doing, if we draw the comparison to the British, the United States will be lucky to have territory equal to that of Rhode Island to govern at the end of our Untergang.

HOW THE **** DO YOU TARIFF A NON-PHYSICAL GOOD?

I think this is definitive evidence he legitimately has no idea what a tariff actually is.

This is literally the dumbest thing I have ever read. Hollywood’s dominance of the world film industry has never been stronger. How would you even define an American movie? How do you tariff something that doesn’t physically exist? What if a movie’s plot doesn’t take place in the United States? Pretty sure this is also a 1st amendment violation.

The admin does not have a history of being very selective with their detentions:

So are they getting concentrated or deported?

Star Wars Intro ScrollEpisode IVIt Was All So StupidSeriously, you would not believe how stupid it was. Every day, unrelentingly, just the dumbest stuff by the absolute worst people. And what made it worse was knowing that we’d brought this on ourselves.

It will be exceedingly crucial for Trump to isolate his supporters.

Trump has managed to retain control by denying reality using his own overstep-backtrack strategy. First, he oversteps the bounds, everyone condemns him for overstepping, then he backtracks. To his supporters, this makes it look like everyone is overreacting to Trump, that they are “Trump haters”, since they are shielded from the true consequences through the backtrack. This strategy applied to many seemingly chaotic items in parallel also obscures reality by crowding it out, by amplifying lots of noise.

Trump won’t be able to hold back big true consequences forever. Before big true consequences hit, and they are coming at us like a freight train, he needs to gain even more control over our information systems. He is pressuring journalists, academics, lawyers, health officials, economists, etc., because he needs to. The next stage will require that he filters reality, that he extinguishes information systems that could challenge his power by providing an undeniably better explanation for the observation set.

It all sounds beyond crazy, but yeah - it's true.

Why do liberals revel in ignorance ? They need their ignorance, its like a security blanket.

The studios are struggling, and the rush for streaming services to diversify their content libraries for global markets has resulted in acquiring and funding co-productions abroad. Hollywood still is a force, but media's going through a sea change in terms of how people are consuming media and this is affecting the studios as well.

Good luck in figuring-out exactly how to tax this mess, much less collect it!

It is still Hollywood who rules over all of that, if Netflix funds a K Drama in Korea it is still Netflix in the United States that ultimately benefits from that.

Hollywood’s financial woes are entirely the fault of executives and investors so laser focused on the short term they don’t even see the consequences of it coming the next day.

And it still doesn’t change the fact that this policy literally doesn’t make sense in any way.

This will split Hollywood, which of course is a good thing. Winners will be silent, losers will be loud and resentful. Hollywood will eat itself. Nice.

He only mentioned movies....I hope they don't mess with Slow Horses.

You mean the series filmed in the UK starring British actors?
