Of course they did. There wasn't any rhyme or reason to these firings, they just fired people because they could.

When you hire amateurs to do professional work, the results are almost assured to be disastrous.

He will discover that trust, predictability are very big deals when hiring the kind of experienced knowledgeable 40+ year old people thinking retirement thoughts, that he tossed out. His idea of the 'best and the brightest' is exactly what will be hired now. [This is not a compliment I am paying ]. A lot of time will be wasted trying to train the orangutangs to do what actual humanoids did before.
 
But it wasnt a total waste. Edolf and his minions most likely now have a backdoor into all our govt and personal data. (y);)
