Here's a tip for you youngsters of the gaming persuasion. If a woman sits down at your table and tells you she's a lawyer who likes to relax with a little poker, and introduces herself as Sally Yates, run like hell and don't stop until you get to the Arctic Circle. It seems that the administration tried to block Ms. Yates from testifying to the House Intelligence Committee about what she knows concerning contact between departed White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and various Russian entities...

So why did Nunes simply cancel the committee hearing instead? That's where Ms. Yates' poker skills come into play. As you can see from the correspondence, Yates and her legal team explained to the White House lawyers that they didn't accept that she was bound by any claim of privilege, and that she was going to testify anyway, damn the torpedoes. At which point, the White House, and its hapless Night Stalker Devin Nunes, folded like cheap suits and canceled the hearings entirely...

The administration really had no choice. They could let Yates testify, in which case anything could happen. Or they could go to court and stop her, and look even more like they're trying to bury what she knows. (Maybe they could have sent federal marshals into the committee room to stop her. That would've been great TV!) Or they could duck and let Nunes take this in the face, which is pretty much what they did, because it's always Someone Else's Fault with this bunch...

Somewhere out there is the independent counsel that we need to get to the bottom of this murk and mire. I hear Sally Yates might be looking for work.

Sally Yates Will Not Be Silenced on Russia

The White House Tuesday denounced as “entirely false” a news report that the Trump administration tried to prevent former acting Attorney General Sally Yates from testifying to the House Intelligence Committee about Russia.

In a statement, the White House said it “has taken no action to prevent Sally Yates from testifying and the Department of Justice specifically told her that it would not stop her and to suggest otherwise is completely irresponsible.”

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said an article on the matter in The Washington Post “is entirely false.”

Mr. Spicer said the White House counsel’s office was given a deadline of March 27 to respond with any objections to Ms. Yates testifying, and didn’t respond.

“We encouraged them to go ahead. That’s the story,” he said.

There's one sure way to prove that statement correct or not ... can you guess how? ;)

National Security Trump administration sought to block Sally Yates from testifying to Congress...

The Trump administration sought to block former acting attorney general Sally Yates from testifying to Congress in the House investigation of links between Russian officials and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, The Washington Post has learned, a position that is likely to further anger Democrats who have accused Republicans of trying to damage the probe.

According to a series of letters reviewed by The Post, Yates was notified earlier this month by the Justice Department that the administration considers a great deal of her possible testimony to be barred from discussion in a congressional hearing because the topics are covered by the presidential communication privilege.

Ms. Yates and other former intelligence officials had been asked to testify before the House Intelligence Committee this week, a hearing that was abruptly canceled by the panel’s chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.). Yates was the deputy attorney general in the final years of the Obama administration, and served as the acting attorney general in the first days of the Trump administration.

Trump fired Yates in January after she ordered Justice Department lawyers not to defend his first immigration order temporarily banning entry into United States for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries and refugees from around the world.

So the same administration that said that promised us that Flynn never discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador is now promising us again that they didn't do something? And why should we believe anything they say?

Yeah, not trusting the White House on this one bit.

Why doesn't she just give a detailed interview on media? Done. No more drama.

Maybe Yates is the person who has been illegally leaking privilaged information

Good point, I say we have an investigation on that allegation and find out the truth, on the record and in Public for EVERYONE to see. ;)

I'm game, are you?

I say we audit her expense accouts for the past five years to see if she's been cheating

Nunes has lost any semblance of credibility or impartiality. Yes, short term, he can stall the investigation into Team Trump's Russian Entanglement... but not long term. Sooner or later Trump has to face some serious heat!

The Nixon era taught us the saying.... "If you can't stand the heat, resign."

Sure ... why not.

But can we at least find out her testimony in addition?

How about it?

If nunes is not crediblity with trump hating liberals that makes him a great guy in my book.

She has been cleared to testify

But if she reveals any classified information throw the book at her

Why post a story that has been shown to be BS?

Rather than attack your fellow citizens, maybe you might consider taking a closer look at your government?

Why post a story that has been shown to be BS?

Because the Facts show different and the people involved say different ... see how the real world works?

In the real world, people are not obligated to tell you or report what you want to hear.

Rather than attack your fellow citizens, maybe you might consider taking a closer look at your government?

But it's their Boy Governing now, not the Kenyan Muslim, Chicago Community Organizer to kicked their butts Back-2-Black

Thats what nunes is doing

Well, it seems the WaPo feels otherwise. They most certainly feel "obligated" to report what they want their followers to hear, regardless of the veracity of their product.

I'll stick with the individuals in involved ... you read the papers.
