I don't disagree, but I'm not arguing against what you're writing here. I'm arguing against the typical Trump supporter mentality which results in illegal immigrants being treated like animals.

What they're doing in actual fact is breaking a minor law through an action which doesn't hurt other people. The crime of improper entry exists because it's important for the government be able to know who enters our country. But it's not a crime similar to robbery or murder, etc. So, it's not appropriate to viciously insult illegal immigrants and treat them with such disdain.

I don't agree with what you're implying. Improper entry is not in the same category as other crimes. And when people are crossing the border to look for a job, to help us with the things we need, we should not describe them the way you're describing them. Saying they are "lawless criminals" is crazy. They're not "lawless criminals" anymore than a U.S. citizen is a "lawless criminal" for speeding or trespassing on someone's private property to get to work.
 
Trump is deporting legal aliens too. He's revoking their visas and shipping them out.

Each state and municipality is allowed to set their own laws and rules with respect to how they operate. Local police departments are not obligated to enforce immigration law unless there is a state statute or internal policy requiring it. There are certain things that must be done, but a lot of this claptrap about "sanctuary cities" isn't true.

The bottom line is that states do not have to help the federal government enforce immigration law. So if there is some suspicion that someone crossed the border illegally it is not a legal requirement that a police officer inform ICE unless there is a statute or policy requiring it.


An ICE agent or a police officer may not have the choice, but immigration judges are empowered with the discretion to choose which illegal immigrants stay, and which ones are deported. And they use this discretion all the time. And it's not about allowing someone to be above the law, it's about applying the logic of the law to the particular circumstances.

For example, you don't put someone in prison for 50 years if all they've done is stolen a pack of gum. That's stupid. A Judge would never sentence someone to prison for 50 years for stealing a pack of gum and say to the person, "Well, I am putting you in prison for 50 years for stealing a pack of gum because no one is above the law. We either support criminals or we support the law."

That's stupid. That's not how things work. The punishment, and the way we treat people are always proportional to the crime.

And with respect to illegal immigrants there are exceptions. In the case of someone who is fleeing persecution they can apply for asylum even if they've crossed the border illegally. This is an aspect of our law. Is an immigration judge who allows an illegal immigrant to stay in our country after they've applied for asylum violating the law in this case? No, they're not. Federal statutes allow for this.

I'm not saying that we should abandon the law. I'm saying we shouldn't be assholes. There is nothing in the law that says, "When dealing with illegal immigrants, you must be a belligerent asshole about everything, and be as cruel as possible." Yet that is what Trump and some of his supporters demand. Trump supporters demand the rest of us treat illegal immigrants like absolute shit. Like animals. Like people who don't even deserve to live. I think that's ****ed up. And these same people profess to be Christians.

Furthermore, when the federal government does not respect the due process rights of the people they are trying to deport, the federal government is the one breaking the law. The federal government also has obligations.

And, as a moral duty, we should not be deliberately sending people to prison if they have no criminal record. That is mean and it's a crazy, and if you support such a thing I would say you're someone who does not believe in American values.

If you're working, and you exchanging your labor for money, you're not a criminal. You're a productive member of the community.

The truth of the matter is illegal immigrants are generally good people who've committed the crime of improper entry.

And Trump supporters want illegal immigrants to be treated like invaders, enemies. But they're not invaders or enemies. They should not be treated as such.

I have hired people with a work visa. They paid taxes, obeyed out laws, they were applying for immigration status, and were wonderful people.
The people here illegally are not. I worked with them as well. When they don't pay taxes all the law abiding taxpayers have to pay their share as well. Everything about it is wrong and unfair to the law abiding.

Most are not paying taxes because they are here illegally. A lot of them have already been removed from this country once or several times. They have no respect for our laws. I know lots of people who have been involved in car accidents with these people. No insurance, no license, no ID, eventually fingerprints come back and then we find out this is not the first time but has happened several times. They have been deported and have reentered illegally and could care less about our laws. Save it for the clueless. I know better.

I have no idea. The first thing we need to do is make it clear that they will be paid enough so my taxes don't have to subsidize them. First thing we do is get all the able bodied people here in this country working. Enough of the 3rd and 4th generation welfare recipients. It is time to take care of the people that cannot work and put the lazy to work. Industry needs to decide how many we need. Work visas need to be issued. No more slave labor. We don't need slaves picking the cotton in this country or anything else. Time to end the lie and pay workers a decent wage.

For the sake of argument, let's assume every illegal immigrant was deported. And let's assume the border was sealed tight so not a single immigrant can enter improperly. Let's assume every American who wanted to work could actually get a job. Let's assume all the wages were fair according to a rate you set. Let's assume every single one of your conditions were met...

What's the number?

For example, would you be okay with a visa system where it allowed at least 10 million immigrants from Central and South America to lawfully work in the U.S. on a conditional basis, meaning, if the government decided to deport them, they could just deport them after a specific period of time if the government chose to do so?

What's the number? I'm sure it's more than 1, right? And I'm sure it's not more than 100 million.
