A former member of the elite U.S. Navy SEALs has come out to say she's now a woman.Kristin Beck, formerly Chris, served 20 years as a SEAL and fought on some of the most dangerous battlefields in the world, but after she left the service she realized she wasn't living the life she wanted.
"Chris really wanted to be a girl and felt that she was a girl and consolidated that identity very early on in childhood," said Anne Speckhard, co-author of Beck's biography "Warrior Princess," which was published over the weekend. Speckhard told ABC News Beck suppressed that secret for decades, however, through the trials of SEAL training and the harrowing missions that followed, growing a burly beard as she fought on the front lines of American special operations.
Why do people continue to believe they can change sexes? Are people really this stupid?
Well. I sure didn't see THAT coming.
The misgendering in this thread is sickening.
It's her people, her. It's not that ****ing complicated. :doh

Well there's been no surgery yet. Doesn't the presence of the penis still make that person a "he"? I ask with sincerity. I'm not very familiar with this whole thing. I just don't know too many "shes" with a penis.

No, she is a she, period.
I just go with whatever the person prefers. Takes no effort on my part and is part of being basically polite, and in this case respectful.
"Sometimes people are threatened by gays and lesbians because they are fearing their own impulses, in a sense they 'doth protest too much,'" Ryan told LiveScience. "In addition, it appears that sometimes those who would oppress others have been oppressed themselves, and we can have some compassion for them too, they may be unaccepting of others because they cannot be accepting of themselves."

I wish men realized that when they go on the attack against either a gay or transgender, to an awful lot of people, they make themselves look like they doubt their own sexuality.

You assume it is not deliberate and ideological.

You would be surprised to see how often it actually works to the extent that people, when faced with an individual that blurs gender categories or switches, leads society to actually wonder which gender they "truly" are. So, in that sense, yes, you can change your sex.
I don't even..
You can change your gender due to it being a word defined by society, but you can not change your sex since it is defined by genetics.
Please do not think you can just mindlessly blend the two together and I won't notice.
