The Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle has hardly been an international sales success, thanks to poor hydrogen infrastructure, expense, and polarizing design, but it proved successful to Ukrainian forces which scavenged parts from the hydrogen car to create the world’s smallest hydrogen bomb.

Not a miniature hydrogen bomb. A VBIED.

This hasn't fully sunk in yet. Until now, the prevailing knowlege among the non physicist population, is a nuke is a complicated device to construct. Ukranian forces just dispelled that myth. Every would be bomb maker in the world, now knows that if they can get their hands on fissible material, they can construct a workable nuke.

Things just changed.

The bomb was not a nuke. Get a grip.

Didn’t say it was. The Ukrainian forces caused hydrogen gas to implode inside of a metal container. While not technically a nuke because fissile material was not involved. The concept was similar. Somebody with the knowledge will study this very closely, and will at some point start experimenting with different configurations to see what works.

Yeah, no.

Appreciate/props for getting me on a watchlist, because I guegle-fu'd the acronym.

It's an acronym used by the US military.

VBIED's were especially prevalent in Iraq (Fallujah, Ramadi, etc.), and also a favorite tactic of ISIS in Syria.

The Toyota hydrogen fuel cell was packed with RDX (C4) and a detonator. A similar explosion can be generated using ANFO (ammonium nitrate/fuel oil).

Nah. That looks nothing like an exploding hydrogen fuel cell from a T-850 (ref: Terminator 3)

Hydrogen bombs use nuclear fusion, what UKR made is a gigantic hydrogen incendiary device.

H2 gas is neither fissible or fusible, it is merely FLAMMABLE.

The above seems very very troll-like, please FIX that.

That wasn't a nuke of any kind.

Jesus H Christ. It was a hydrogen/oxygen explosion.

Hydrogen fuel cell becoming a nuke is a myth.
Perhaps it is the easiest myth to refute, since the association only exists in the name. Still, Sofia Ganilha explains: "The working principle of hydrogen pumps is similar to the reactions that occur in stars nuclei, particularly in the Sun. It is a nuclear fusion reaction in which two atoms (deuterium and tritium) merge into a larger atomic nucleus, followed by a nuclear fission reaction. This process is nothing like the electrolytic process that is used to produce hydrogen, in which water molecules are separated into hydrogen and oxygen atoms by application of electric current".

People learn some elementary school physics and chemistry before posting shit. The electrolytic process that occurs in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles cannot produce a reaction that is anything like a nuke.

I was wrong, I meant to simply say that Hydrogen GAS is flammable, not Deuterium.
I was agreeing in my usual way.

The stupidity in the OP and Shrew's response is grinding. It is an indictment on evolution itself. It is a direct attack on the first fish that crawled out of the sea.

Yup, but I would argue that Hydrogen gas probably makes a bigger kaboom than methane (fart gas) but I am not 100% sure.

Nothing changed actually.
