A new study has revealed the ten happiest and unhappiest states in America - with Massachusetts leading the way as the cheeriest place to live.

The Schoolaroo Study analysed 54 metrics that were divided into seven key categories to determine happiness levels in all 50 states.

Massachusetts landed top spot as the happiest state, Illinois came second, Connecticut third, New Jersey, fourth, and New York featured in the top 5.

In the least happy states, South Carolina came first, Missouri second, Tennessee third, Oklahoma fourth and Alabama in fifth place.

However, most of the southern states have the lowest levels of happiness, according to Schoolaro, as they ranked the highest in metrics like depression rate, number of hours worked per week and obesity rate.

Gee, I wonder WHAT seems to be the biggest difference between the happiest and least happy states? And how is it possible that the most Woke states appear to be the happiest?? How is THAT possible?

So I see social policies as a determining factor. Be Queer or get down graded?

Try to buy a house in new York and tell.me how happy you are

Illinois is at the top, come on man! Ever been to Chicago, they have a nightly killing spree. That city alone should knock Illinois out. Obviously some stupid determining factors were used.

How could I have guessed this thread was going to tickle a few sensitivities?
Settle down Canada. You're just jealous you can't live here

Hahahahaha

That is one heckuva' lot of not happy republicans. No wonder they are always bitching. All bunched up in the southeast where republicans, in general, are in charge.

Talk about bitching, look at the rebuttals to this thread from those who likely live in those unhappy states (though they are not likely to fess up where they live) and you get the feeling we are dealing with some VERY unhappy people.

Horsecrap, bad representation is the culprit. All of those states, mostly run by republicans. Put up a map of the poorest states, it will look wildly similar to the unhappy south.

Chicago is one city in a big state, it's not the whole state.

On the other hand, when you trash their home states you have to expect they may get a tad defensive.

You sound a little sensitive. Lol

I love eighth-place California, I love the Pacific Ocean, and I love a lot of things about Los Angeles; its museums, music venues, theaters, cultural diversity, and the weather. Traffic and drivers are a pain in the neck.

I don’t intend on cashing out on high real estate prices — Los Angeles is my home. Third generation in the city, and third generation that loves Venice.

That said, I’m not a fan of earthquakes.

What are the highest taxed states in the US?

Same list. Lol

stupid really

What the study looked at

  • Personal finance
  • Leisure activities
  • Mental Health
  • Physical Health
  • Employment
  • Personal relationships
  • Social policies

and other things that are arguably NOT about happiness

no, that is NOT a list of happy/unhappy states ..... its a list of states that meet a criteria of expectations that someone things might make someone happy or not

Well, admittedly the list of priorities were NOT guns, marrying below legal age, chasing blacks for fun, beating up queers, getting drunk and racing around in 4x4s, so I can understand you found that the criteria for happiness wasn't southern style.
