Some Democrats are already making moves that have stoked 2028 speculation, from California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s podcasts to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (N.Y.) recent series of rallies alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
It’s almost three years before the first primaries will be held, but here are The Hill’s initial rankings of the 2028 Democratic contenders.

1. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.)

2. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro

3. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

4. California Gov. Gavin Newsom

5. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore

6. Former Vice President Kamala Harris

7. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker

8. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg

9. Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel

10. Media commentator Stephen A. Smith

Comment:
None of them are mainstream.
Pritzker is a billionaire oligarch; I thought that they hated them.
Buttigieg is incompetent.
Harris is dumb and a drunkard.
Emanuel is untrustworthy; "You never let a serious crisis go to waste."
Newsom has wrecked California.
Whitmer is even goofier than Harris, and that is hard to do.
Even Harris rejected Shaprio.
Who is Wes Moore?
Who is Stephen A. Smith?
AOC is my dream candidate because of all of the good jokes

According to Trump, it does not matter. See my signature.

We WILL have elections in 2028. And 2026. The question is whether the Repubs will let them count.

At this point Wes Moore is my favourite, next Shapiro

I don't think you got one description correct....so much for your opinion.

According to Niall Stanage at The Hill. Ok

Weird list. Where’s Andy Beshear, where’s Mark Kelly?

AOC is on there because of the huge rallies her and Bernie have been holding, all the positive reactions, that doesn't automatically translate into winning the presidency.

I don't think she's interested in the presidency , yet....Chairing important committees, or maybe Speaker of the House more in her wheelhouse. If she delivers the progressive vote to elect the next president, a prime Cabinet position would also be a nice stepping stone.

That would certainly make more sense.

1. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.)

Too much of a Progressive airhead. Defending anti-Semite members of the Prog Squad will squelch her chances with Jewish voters. AIPAC would make mincemeat of her in ads.

2. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro
Might have a good shot at it.

4. California Gov. Gavin Newsom

Tyranny regarding COVID lockdowns & letting the state go to shit will work against him.

7. Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker

Crapping up Illinois & his property tax evasion attempt will work against him

9. Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel

A crappy ex-Chicago mayor? Yeah right.

Why the **** is anyone speculating this early, we're barely 3 months into the current Presidential term.

Things are going to shift significantly before 2028, and we have more immediate concerns to deal with.
