Top DOJ Official Defends New Memorandum on Targeting Parents

I repeat it. Slowly this time. A study by the CDC itself said there was no statistical difference in COVID transmission rate in schools with mask mandates and schools where masks were optional.
Masking where followed is quite effective.
Why on earth would you institute a a mandate which generates such emotion and anger when science says the mandate makes absolutely no difference in the transmission rate of the virus?
I expect those people will eventually learn from their failures. Maybe I am too hopeful.

Reagan removed the ability to address mental health issues among the homeless....this is where that has led us.
Reagan has been dead for two decades for God's sake.

In MD, Carroll Co. has no mask mandate and Baltimore Co. does. Carroll County has more students and faculty in quarantine than Baltimore Co. does. But Baltimore co. has 4 times more students. Hard to argue with the facts in front of one's face.

does that mean that the law that he passed changed? Do laws stop being in force when a president dies or leaves office? He died in 2004...so 2 decades isn't accurate either...he has been dead for 17 years. He left office in 1989, the same year I graduated high school. He signed good laws and bad laws...this was a bad one.

But they are the right agency to investigate parents at local school board meetings? WTF?

It's what they asked for and they are not investigating random parents.

The National School Boards Association (NSBA) respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance to deal with the growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation. Local school board members want to hear from their communities on important issues and that must be at the forefront of good school board governance and promotion of free speech. However, there also must be safeguards in place to protect public schools and dedicated education leaders as they do their jobs.

If you are truly interested in solving an alleged local criminal problem you go to the local PD. You don't ask the frigging FBI to investigate parents under domestic terrorism laws
Has Congress passed a Domestics Terrorism Law? When?

So you support kidnapping and terrorism. Good to know.
Speaking of supporting terrorism. When Antifa and the alt-left were setting fire to police precincts, setting federal courthouses on fire, attacking police, setting cities on fire, and killing innocent people the Trump DoJ said they needed to work with local law enforcement to end the violence.

You said this of the Attorney General:

No he didn't. States can address it however they wish. If Democrats cared, it would be part of Build Back "Better". I doubt they ever considered it.

An appropriate response would need to be more than financial considerations, so it cannot be done through reconciliation.

actually he did. Federal law prohibits states from institutionalizing the mentally ill, unless they are a direct danger to others...as in, they have been adjudicated mentally unfit after committing a violent crime...and even then they eventually get released.

Ah, the old "terrorism's okay because both sides do it" argument.

An appropriate response would need to be more than financial considerations, so it cannot be done through reconciliation.
Sure it can. That's how they're doing everything else. Just giving money to committees.

A bit honest posting on you part would be refreshing. You don't have to defend every woke bullshit thing this adminstration does for God's sake.
That is the exact problem I have with debate boards.

Then reconciliation would have been used to address the dreamers, but the parliamentarian just ruled against it. Things often need changes in policy as well.

Deinstitutionalization took place in the 60's - decades before Reagan was President. That's when this became a problem.

I posted the link for you...read it...and no, it didn't..because my grandmother forcibly institutionalized my mother (because she was incorrigible) in 1968. She was subjected to electric shock therapy that pretty much erased her memory of anything from her childhood.

What does that have to do with acts of terrorism on the right? The FBI has stated that right wing extremism is the #1 terrorist threat and more dangerous than ISIS.

This analysis makes several arguments. First, far-right terrorism has significantly outpaced terrorism from other types of perpetrators, including from far-left networks and individuals inspired by the Islamic State and al-Qaeda. Right-wing attacks and plots account for the majority of all terrorist incidents in the United States since 1994, and the total number of right-wing attacks and plots has grown significantly during the past six years. Right-wing extremists perpetrated two thirds of the attacks and plots in the United States in 2019 and over 90 percent between January 1 and May 8, 2020. Second, terrorism in the United States will likely increase over the next year in response to several factors. One of the most concerning is the 2020 U.S. presidential election, before and after which extremists may resort to violence, depending on the outcome of the election.

So, people speaking out and getting angry at school board meetings is terrorism now? How dumb does one have to be to believe that? It's so overwhelming the local authorities that the AG of the United States has to step in? How many school board members have been injured or killed? 10? 100? It must be extraordinarilly significant if the feds are stepping in so quickly!

It's not an authoritative link, and you summarized it wrong. Deinstitutionaliztion occurred in the 60's. This is common knowledge. It was a product of relativistic thinking, civil rights, and high hopes for pharmaceuticals that were being developed at the time.

Death threats are not protected speech.

Some of these crazy Trump supporters and Republican friends of yours who hate vaccines are bat shit insane.
Enough of the TDS. Actual death threats should be investigated and prosecuted. However most of what these school board turds are whining about is getting yelled at by parents who are rightfully angry at being given no input on what's taught to their children.

not an authoritative link? Why because you don't like it? It ends in .edu...I would say that it is absolutely what you claim it isn't.

The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) is the statute that repealed President Carter’s Mental Health Systems Act which was supposed to continue federal funding for mental health programs. Reagan gave the appearance of making a consequentialist ethical decision because he presented his repeal of OBRA as an action that would best serve American society and do more good than harm as a result. The OBRA gave mental patients a choice to seek treatment outside of a mental institution, an option to seek treatment at clinics at the state level, and the freedom to administer their own medication (PSY533, 2017) (Pan, 2013). However, Reagan was hasty in taking unsound advice to repeal OBRA because his real motive was to cut the federal budget (Roberts, 2013). He was a leader who “never exhibited any interest in the need for research or better treatment for serious mental illness” (Torrey, 2017).

I support them having a say in their kids education, but also so does accrediting agencies, state education standards, federal education standards, local competing parent views, etc
And parents should have voice in all of those as well. Given the dismal performance of schools in turning our students proficient in math, language and science I'd have to say that those on your list are doing a piss-poor job and some parental input is greatly needed.
