Here is the fundamental difference --- from your perspective, the party is Trump. You want to Trump to win. The Republican party is the vehicle for that to happen for you.

Democrats think much differently. We are not tied to Joe Biden. The Democratic party is not the vehicle to Joe Biden. Its the opposite, Biden was to be the vehicle for the Democrats, who want a Democratic win. We want the person that makes us most likely to win. It was determined, rightfully in my eyes, that Biden was not the candidate mostly likely to deliver a win, so he had to step aside.

The way the party has rallied around Harris, particularly her raising $100M for 1M donors in 48 hours is a testament to not only a full throated endorsement of the move by rank and file democrats, but almost a repudiation of the party for running Biden in the first place.
