Top Democrats Mum as Ganim Looks to Move Past Ballot Fraud Ruling and Win Re-Election in Bridgeport

November 4th, 2023

On Wednesday, Judge William Clark upended Mayor Joe Ganim’s primary win, after reviewing video footage that appeared to show several instances of his supporters illegally stuffing stacks of ballots into city dropboxes.

It is interesting to me that fraud occurred through the ballot drop boxes. People often admit that there is fraud, but "not enough to change an election."

580 elections in the United States have been tied. 142 elections in the United States have been decided by one vote. You can find the list here: https://publicinterestlegal.org/tied-elections/

After a 2003 conviction for fraud, extortion and bribery, Ganim spent seven years in prison, before staging a political comeback and winning reelection as mayor in 2015.

Usually I oppose laws that stand between voters and their preferred candidate (like term limits) but surely a major bust for "fraud, extortion and bribery" should disqualify a person for life.

There is no reason for "top democrats" to care about a local mayoral race.

Bridgeport is the most populous city in CT, so it's not unreasonable to expect top Democrats who endorsed Ganim in 2019 to say whether they still support him now.

Ahead of the 2019 Bridgeport general election, Ganim received public endorsements from Murphy, Blumenthal and Himes.

Murphy and Blumenthal are the US Senators for CT. Himes is a US House representative for CT.

The article is a bit fractal (you have to search forward and back to get the whole picture) but the paper has done everything it should do. It approached the offices of relevant Democrats for comment, then reported that they declined to comment. The word "Mum" capitalized in the title is confusing, "Mute" would have been clearer, but otherwise the title is accurate.

"Success has a thousand fathers, but failure is an orphan."

Maybe you'd like to put that 722 into perspective. The listing started in 2002. There have been 5 US national general elections (around 600 federal elections each [call that 3,000]), 6 US national elections (non-presidential) (around 600 federal elections each [call that another 3,000]), and at least 10 nation wide sets of state elections (around 2000+ seats each [call that 20,000]) PLUS a number of state, country, and municipal elections that numbers (at a minimum) 10,000,000 for a minimum number of 1,026,000 electoral contests.

722 is 0.0704% of the elections. 0.0704% is not considered to be a "statistically significant" amount.

And, of course, some of those elections involved such small numbers of voters that it wouldn't be even slightly suspicious if the election tied or was decided by a single vote.

Please find some new "The Sky Is Falling" mantra to chant.

Why are Democrats running a man who spent several years in Federal prison?

Can anyone say "hypocrisy"?

It's the White, Connecticut version of Marion Barry.

Because he can win you silly boy.

If the odds were that in an election between Adolf Hitler and Yeshua bar Yosef bin Nazaret, Adolf Hitler would win in a landslide BOTH the "Republicans" (whatever that means)and the "Democrats" (whatever that means) would be fighting tooth and nail to get Herr Hitler to "run under their banner" and would be actively engaged in slander and rumor mongering against Yeshua bar Yosef bin Nazaret (and probably trying to convince people that he was a sexual deviant because he had no known "girlfriend" and because a relative of his had "engaged in sexual relations with an underage girl" [to say nothing about casting doubts on his mental health because he "believes himself to be 'The Son of God'"]).
