My apologies, I totally misinterpreted the chart. Doesn't change the fact that we are responsible for the safety and protection of the free world and spend we must. With that, the mismanagement and waste have to go.
 
Are we not having this exact same debate in another thread where the OP used the same source and graphics for some other conclusion?

Defend the free world from what? If the US reduces its defense by 30% will Russia invade Western Europe or will China invade Canada or will Klingons invade the US?

We have no idea what reckless things Russia or China would do in an attempt to dominate the free world, but we have to be prepared for anything and that takes money.

Respectfully, while that assumption makes sense, it doesn't jive much with human nature. Especially the French mostly resent the fact that they depend on us. :-/ A lot of European Kvetching about America is them projecting their own problems onto someone else they feel comfortable criticizing.

What is your evidence any of that will happen if the US reduces its military budget?

Their last military adventure in Iraq created ISIS, not a good track record.

I think I can translate. What he seems to be saying is that the USG must dominate the world because Russia or China might get crazy and think that they should dominate the world.

I find it hilarious that France or Canada can compare themselves to the US on any level.
One state in the US, California has a GDP nearly the same of both of those countries.
And both rely on the US for protection and resources.
When will those countrys pay up for what they get from the USA?
