What's funny is how Republican partisans always seem to whine about being "held to a higher standard" every time a Republican gets nabbed for some wrongdoing.
There are crooks in both parties.
Now and again, one of those crooks gets caught.
the getting caught part doesn't happen often enough, but it does happen. When it does, if the culprit is a Republican, we always hear that keening whine about how it's not fair for the poor, poor Republicans, and the silly refrain that Democrats get away with the same thing.
I can't think of any such weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth from the Democrats, but it makes sense that they would do the same thing.
Can anyone think of examples of moaning and wailing from Democrats about being "held to a higher standard?"
You said tax policy passed by democratically elected representives of the greatest democracy on the planet is like illegal money laundering.
Why do you hate America and its system of government so much? Is this a tea party school yard thing?
This is complemented by the conservative tendency to preach about "personal responsibility" and dismiss genuine explanations for events/behavior as "excuses," but then turn around and say that conservatives can't get fair treatment because "liberals own the media", that the failures of their political leaders are the fault of "leeches" and so on.
Charles Rangel Censured for House Ethics Violations - ABC NewsIt's downright wrong that democrats get a free pass when a democrat gets caught (buried at the bottom of page 40 in the paper mentioned as a mere blurb not even mentioning party affiliation)
The progressive media controls everything you think you know. That is why you champion crap like the fairness doctrine.
This has absolutely nothing to do with partisan politics and everything to do with reality and observation...
It's downright wrong that democrats get a free pass when a democrat gets caught (buried at the bottom of page 40 in the paper mentioned as a mere blurb not even mentioning party affiliation) while every time a republican gets busted for something stupid it's front page (some times even the headline) not to mention the party affiliation his in the headline itself.
This is why democrats are ignorant to their parties own dirty laundry, and why democrats believe their party is morally and ethically more superior.
As a libertarian I think both parties screw up, however democrats screw up way more but the MSM helps them out by keeping the public ignorant to that fact and it chaps my ass.

I don't think Democrats screw up more or that they're not held accountable. I remember Anthony Weiner was pretty front page and I don't remember very many people, liberals included, defending him. Oh there were some that did what you're doing now. It was deflection then and you're deflecting now.
If the "progressive media" had that kind of control, how would the fairness doctrine benefit them?
If the "progressive media" had that kind of control, how would the fairness doctrine benefit them?
Because "fair" to the progressive is no alternative news or ideas to their own.
Fair to them is ban Fox News and clone MSNBC while banning conservative talk radio.
Having taught 4th. grade for a number of years, I'm quite familiar with the "You're picking on me because I'm (a boy, a girl, Hispanic, white, red headed, whatever) argument. The "Republicans get held to a higher standard! keening wail is the same thing, and about the same level of childishness.
and a 351's post pretty much blew that childish, silly, unsupported refrain out of the water, didn't it?

Of course it's good, but it's not like anyone cares. If democrat "voters" actually held their candidates to the same standards as republicans there wouldn't be a democrat party.
Really?
So if an individual makes an observation and states that observation they are acting "childish" just because of the subject?
Not to mention why don't you go tell those goddamn progressives they're acting like children when they say: "no fair, you must pay your fair share in taxes."
It is clear that you have no idea what the fairness doctrine is or was for that matter being that the fairness doctrine was in place from 1949 up into the 1980's... and it does NOT ban anything or block anyting or anything of that sort. Please read something before you try to slam something.
Well that deserves an explanation.
Wow!
The scumbag Tom Delay gets sent to jail and we have 7 pages of partisan bickering about who is worse, Democrats or Republicans. Who could have ever seen this one coming?
Kind of reminds me of a philosophical debate I heard one time... something about a chicken and an egg? That argument never had a winner, either, as I recall...
Ah. So you don't understand what the fairness doctrine is. That explains that.
Well how the hell can the media bury a censure?
I'm talking about House and Senate members (both state and federal) getting popped for simple crimes, DUI, disorderly conduct, assault etc..
If a republican gets a DUI its sensationalized and is front page news. If a democrat gets a DUI its buried. Sure both are reported but one (like I said) is sensationalized and the other is just a blurb.
Actually, Republican voters didn't hold Delay to any kind of standard at all. In fact, until fairly recently, they fiercely defended him, calling the actions against him a witch hunt, and called Earl, the Austin prosecutor, a political hack who wanted Delay gone. You may want to try and rewrite history here, but history is what it is.... History, and no matter how hard you try and make it "disappear", it will still be here.
