"A shooting in Riverside near John W. North High School on Sunday, May 28, left one man dead and another injured, police said.
Shortly before 5:15 p.m. officers responded to reports of the shooting in the 3500 block of Chicago Avenue, near Linden Street, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesman for Riverside police.
It appeared the shooting was in an alley behind an apartment complex.
Both men were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead, Railsback said. The other man remained in the hospital on Monday.
The victims’ ages and any possible motive were not disclosed."

The Gun Violence Archive, which tracks mass shootings, logged 20 incidents in which at least four people were injured or killed, not including shooters, from Friday afternoon through Monday night.
The bloodshed started with a spree in Arizona, where a 20-year-old man was accused of killing four people and injuring one in five different shootings in the Phoenix area.
Over the next three days, people were killed and injured in Virginia, Mississippi, New Mexico, Illinois and more. And Monday evening, as Memorial Day revelers in Hollywood Beach, Florida, celebrated the holiday, nine people were injured by gunfire along a boardwalk."

According to the Little Rock Police Department, the shooting happened shortly before midnight in the 9600 block of West 36th Street. After arriving on the scene, police said they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds."

"The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people found shot to death in Dublin Tuesday.
Deputies say they responded at 6:20 p.m. to the 5900 block of Wilderness Rad for a report of multiple gunshots with potentially two victims inside the home and found a deceased man and woman inside the home with gunshot wounds.
The male was identified as 27-year-old Jimmy Brewer and the female was identified as 25-year-old Ashley Nicole Ray, both from Dublin. Their bodies were taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke.
Two kids were inside the home at the time of the incident, both uninjured, and taken to a neighbor’s home until the Department of Social Services could arrive and assist."

Child dies in River Grove after accidental shooting by another child: police​

RIVER GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- River Grove police said a child has died after being accidentally shot by another child in a household.

Police said they were called to a home in the 2400 block of West Street around 10 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a child shot. When they arrived, they found a child severely injured after being accidentally shot by another child in the home.

The father of the child who was shot said he was outside at the time of the shooting, but another child told him it had happened. He immediately called 911.

Police said the father holds a valid FOID card and concealed carry license, and is cooperating investigation. According to police, the father told him he owned the gun and claimed it was stored on a high shelf in a closet.

"An 18-year-old is dead after a shooting in the North Highlands area of Sacramento County late Wednesday night, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials said three people were sitting in a car in that area when another car approached and shot at their vehicle.
An 18-year-old inside that first vehicle was struck, and the driver of the vehicle was able to make their way into the intersection of Grand Avenue and Marysville Boulevard. The victims then waved down a Twin Rivers police officer, and the teen was taken to a nearby hospital.
The 18-year-old later died from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said."

We wanted to understand the human toll of a stunning statistic that can be meaningless without scale. We focused on gun violence in a single week: May 29 to June 4, 2022.

7 days. 1,000 shootings​

There’s no national government clearinghouse documenting each shooting in the United States on a daily basis. However, the Gun Violence Archive, a small nonprofit launched in 2013. Researchers there compile and catalog shootings from state and local police agencies, news reports, and more than 7,500 sources nationwide.

The data included in this report was compiled from
The Gun Violence Archive,
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the FBI, and local police, sheriff, and prosecuting agencies around the country. Its stated goal is to “provide information on most types of gun violence, and gun crime, no matter where it is on the political table.”

The data collected is imperfect and does not include suicides in the daily reports. But it offers the most complete and up-to-date look at gun violence across the United States.

"One man is dead after a shooting in a strip mall parking lot off Lane Avenue on Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
A fight between three men led to one of the men being shot, JSO said.
The other two men drove off in a dark-colored car traveling north to Normandy Boulevard, police said.
The man who was shot was rushed to the hospital, where he died, JSO said.
Police are interviewing a few witnesses.
No arrests have been made.
Investigators will also check to see if any of the surveillance cameras from the businesses in the mall captured the shooting.
Lane Avenue near Lenox Avenue was closed down for the investigation."

"An 83-year-old man was arrested after a deadly shooting occurred outside a Westchester Amazon Fresh grocery store.
The shooting was reported around 4 p.m. at the grocery store parking lot on La Cienega Boulevard Tuesday evening.
Several witnesses told FOX 11 that a man and woman were arguing in the parking lot when an older man came down from the balcony to intervene. He attempted to get the man to back off the woman, but the two men started arguing. Witnesses then say the older man, identified as 83-year-old Richard Strickland of Los Angeles, pulled out a gun and fired.
"The older man pulled out the gun. He pulled it out twice; first time he pulled it out like a warning and then as he was going to put it away he turned his back, the Latino gentleman took off his shirt like he was going to fight and started spewing derogatory statements at him and at that point the Black gentleman turned around and shot him," said one witness.
The coroner has identified the shooting victim as 31-year-old YanCarlos Santiago of Los Angeles."
