Another day, another defection. This time longtime Tory and London Assembly man Keith Prince. The growth of Reform UK is relentless. Something is clearly afoot. Its like that fever in the air on the eve of the departure of Israelites from Egypt. The modern Pharaoh Keir Starmer will not let the English go. Let my people go, Farage roars at Starmer. The H.M.S Reform UK is ready to set sail to a Land of Promise where the English man will be free to fly the St George banner without charges of racism

That's the spirit, but let's hear it from Keith Prince himself

I am delighted that from today I will be sitting as a Reform UK member on the London Assembly.

The Conservative party is done and dusted. While it may have served a purpose once, it is no longer an effective opposition to this failing Labour government. Reform UK is the only party speaking for ordinary, patriotic working people and I’m excited to be part of its future.”

We're learning that there are a lot of yahoos out there, and nutters like Trump, Farage, Orban etc. happy to join their ranks.

Keith Prince huh. F*cks given, zero.

Who ?

Why do cay Farage is a nutter and a yahoo?
No.

Because his political views differ from yours?
No, because he is running the same populist playbook run in the US and other nations which have channeled white grievance politics. I currently have to carry my passport because the administration here wants immigration police to pull anyone over who looks or sounds like an immigrant over in a move to bring back racial profiling. I'll say "no thanks" to that. I suppose you can say those kind of political views "differ" from mine.

Chances are many of these defections are because the current leader is black.

No.

The vast majority of the people of the UK, me included, that hat the mass immigration into the Brirtain is socially and economically destructive. Farage agrees with us. So does Kemi Dadenoch btw. If that makes us all 'populists' that's OK with me.

There is no evidence the Israelites were enslaved by Egypt.

No.

You do know Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson do not like each other at all. And the people with the English St. George flag are the Robinsonist EDL thugs.

This has to be looked at from an English point of view as well, not entirely American, even though there are ties between UK Conservative Party and the US MAGA Republican Party.

There is an odd political fight being played out between UK Conservative Party and Reform UK as the frontrunning opposition to the Labour Party, and there is a still a lot of awkward economic condition suggesting no one has a clear path for UK's future. 2025 started well, but in recent months the economy is slowing to little growth, all with higher inflation. We know they face a housing issue but also a job fulfillment issue, does not help that the grand social experiment of mass war torn immigration did not work. That always keeps people on edge.

You have Starmer who's been PM for just over a year but he is wildly unpopular even within his own party, that puts Labour in the political crosshairs.

The simple truth is the Labour Party did not deliver, on really anything.

UK Conservative Party and Reform UK both are suggesting mass deportations (MAGA style) and reform to tax and spend (benefits the wealthy.) The issue is where "right wing nationalists" are going to go, since both have nationalism themes, and that means Reform UK is picking up pace from recent defections. But that does not mean Reform UK is welcoming everyone with open arms. There is a bunch of animosity between these conservative branches. One could argue that Reform UK is closer to MAGA Republicans than the UK Conservative Party, but even that is a tough relation.

What this could mean is what becomes the political force against Labour's run, all with Brexit a distant memory for what nationalists did to UK economics.

If Reform UK pulls this off it is a slight reshape of UK politics even if just for a brief period of time.

So you're an immigrant. Are you fine with being 'socially and economically destructive'?
It is mass immigration which is the problem not the individual-

Not surprising at all, it is The Spectator.
:)

Badenoch's isn't surprising either since the Tories have to find some way of becoming relevant again now that Reform's eaten their lunch in terms of people's attention. I suspect the Tories will continue to analyze Reform's popularity and pick the pieces it can latch on to so as not to be left in the woods alone. Labour will be doing the same, though that will be a much tougher needle to thread.

There's an argument to be made there, because there are economic and social realities to mass migration for any country. Where these movements lose me is when they become jingoistic flag waving nonsense which is often rooted in more than the practical/impractical aspects of immigration. I still remember the crap I had to deal with every so often in my time in Manchester with the "Paki" calls thrown in my direction despite me not being from there, but since Pakistani migrants were the brown person of choice, I guess I fit the bill.
