Time to outlaw Hello Kitty pink bubble guns?

So, you don't think that either conservatives or libertarians support zero tolerance. OK. Who does support them?

I don't buy into stereotypes and meaningless labels, sorry but you can't categorize Americans into either conservatives, libertarians, and liberals. I reject the entire premise of this question. Whomever decided upon suspending this little girl is clearly out of touch, whether that be the principle or superintendent, or if it was a law then whoever passed that law to compel the school authorities to take such an action. Whatever you believe their political leaning is, and whatever they say their political meaning is, which could be two very different things by the way is irrelevant because regardless of what label they apply to themselves or you apply to them is not a commentary on other people who fall under that label.

I'm sure there are many stories like that. I can remember a Sikh student who got in trouble. Seems the Sikhs like to wear a little metal replica of a sword as a religious emblem. It's no more a weapon than the crucifixes that the Catholics wear, but it was enough to trigger the zero tolerance Pavlovian response. It caused quite a tempest in a teapot due to the issue of religious freedom and all that. The kid won the battle though.

That reminds of another story about a student who was sent home from school for wearing a cross necklace because the school thought it looked like a gang sign of some sort. Apparently, schools can just ban things arbitrarily as they feel the urge.

I never said they did support them, even for a strawman this is a pretty weak response dude.

Everyone knows how you operate on these boards, the fact that you still try to fool everyone into believing you never say or mean anything is absurd. The point is, it's squarely and unquestionably a liberal stance on policy. Zero tolerance to guns is liberal, and only liberal. End of Story.

You and I are on the same side of this discussion.

No, it is not.

It is unquestionably a stupid stance on policy. If you equate liberal with stupid, then you do have a point.

Wiseone is right. It is neither a conservative nor a liberal position.

I guess if you choose to live in a world of your own stereotypes and generalizations. Whats really bad is how you think this incident is something that all liberals share responsibility in and agree with by default, and by your line of logic as shown here in this post is "that's just cause what they do," even the ones who disagree with action this school took.

Is it perhaps, call me crazy, but perhaps just the individual concerned who's to blame and not whomever you label as a liberal?

More "out of touch" educators:

This week, a South Philadelphia elementary student was searched in front of classmates and threatened with arrest after she mistakenly brought a “paper gun” to school.

Earlier this month a 6-year-old boy was suspended from his elementary school in Maryland for making a gun gesture with his hand and saying “pow”.

Days later another two 6-year-olds in Maryland were suspended for pointing their fingers into gun shapes while playing “cops and robbers” with each other.

In Oklahoma, a five-year-old boy was also recently suspended for making a gun gesture with his hand.

A 13-year-old Middle School seventh grade student in Pennsylvania was also suspended for the same hand gesture.

There seems to be an overriding fear of guns among educators for some reason. I don't think it's NRA members who are suspending these kids for saying "Stick 'em up" and "Bang, bang. You're dead." I didn't take a poll or do a study. It's just a feeling.
