I was going to post a thread on Walz Covid hotline encouraging Karens to inform on their neighbors, but the hotline DID issue citations! Arrest of course can follow.. Then i read shockingly deeper..Walz went off the rails

Walz was a moderate Democrat when he served in the House of Representatives but veered left during his two terms as governor. He referred to socialism as synonymous with neighborliness, pursued an extremely progressive governing agenda, and earned an F from the Cato Institute on fiscal policy.

Walz's coronavirus policies were extremely heavy-handed and restrictive; under his leadership, the state endured the pandemic in a fundamentally anti-libertarian fashion.

When the coronavirus was first spreading, Walz was an enthusiastic promoter of social distancing rules. He described the crowds in public, outdoor spaces as "a little too big." He even defended Minnesota's ridiculous hotline for COVID-19 snitches. That's right: Walz's government maintained a method for people to report their neighbors for failing to abide by social distancing rules. Walz insisted in a recent interview that "one person's socialism is another person's neighborliness"; denouncing one's neighbors as insufficiently loyal to government policies is a fundamental aspect of socialism, however.

What followed was the implementation of one of the stupidest COVID-19 rules: Diners at restaurants had to wear masks while walking to their table and moving about the establishment but were allowed to go maskless as long as they were eating and drinking.

Later, in November and December of 2020, Walz issued and extended orders for restaurants, gyms, and other businesses to shut down. This included outdoor dining service for eating establishments. Over 150 businesses formed the Reopen Minnesota Coalition and urged the governor to relent, but Walz was unmoved.......

A cover-up of nursing home deaths in New York brought an end to the political ambitions of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who lied about his involvement in this policy. But Walz was a fellow practitioner; in fact, Walz said that it was "not a mistake" to release sick people back to nursing homes. That statement alone reflects poor enough judgment as to be disqualifying for the pursuit of higher office.

Good. This is what you do when a pandemic is sweeping the world.

A pandemic is not a political situation. People who believe that it is are making a category error of the worst kind.

Get all mad about it.

The governor was faced with something unprecedented in our lifetimes, as was every governor in the country. If you look at the death rates by state, you will see Minnesota was among the lowest, certainly lower than many MAGA states. So maybe his supposedly heavy-handed methods saved lives. LINK

Thanks for posting the Russian perspective on this for us.

it's "political" on how it's handled by....politicians..... you know- by governors?

“Non-libertarian response to COVID”!

Jesus Christ.

The libertarian approach to a deadly pandemic would literally guarantee maximum morbidity and mortality.
good pick up. thanks for paying attention...Walz doesnt strike me as being all about freedom or libertarianism
He's got a heavy socialist hand

Explain why you believe this rule was "one of the stupidest COVID-19" restrictions.

The first sentence in your copy-and-paste excerpt notes Walz identified as a moderate Democrat but, in the opinion of Reason, subsequently "veered left". So, no, Walz seems never to have presented himself as a Libertarian.

More to the point is what @Threegoofs appears to be saying: not imposing restrictions during the pandemic - before a vaccine was widely available - would almost certainly have "guarantee[d] maximum morbidity and mortality".

(3rd sentence/2nd paragraph: "Walz's coronavirus policies were extremely heavy-handed and restrictive; under his leadership, the state endured the pandemic in a fundamentally anti-libertarian fashion.")

Maga Manlet Mania. The desperation is high.

Its almost as bad as their record with finding a suitable life partner.

The frustration...

More to the point, if there is any chance that wearing the mask as requested might save a few lives, why would you moan about it??? Wearing a mask in public place during a pandemic that we didn't even understand the severity of at the time is hardly a massive hardship.

LOL
Such a horrible man, looking out for the health and welfare of the people of his state.
What's next, you going to criticize him for signing a bill to make sure all schools who wish to participate can provide breakfast and lunch for all students for free.

Ah second thread on the same subject... they much be talking about this on Fox... is this talking point #3 or did I miss one?.... Keep throwing stuff against the wall, maybe something like ketchup, will stick. Be certain to tune into Fox tomorrow for pathetic talking point #4. BTW. No one cares. He did a good job in CoVid, unlike the guy he is running against who Lancet says is responsible for 200,000 American deaths because of his incompetent response.

If I were Fox, Trump and Trump supporter, I would not be talking about CoVid, its not a good look for the red team. It will only remind us of Trump fumbled and stumbled handling the only real crisis thrown at him in his four years.

BTW. Thanks for pointing out that Tim Walz, unlike the POTUS at the time, did the right thing during CoVid. His leadership likely explains why MN had one of the lowest death rates in the US.

weak sauce. If anything Walz mirrors NY Covid policy under Cuomo.

You do realize that no one but Trump supporters and Fox News watchers care one iota about this, but thanks for sharing.

Children don't deserve to be fed, because....well, because their parents are lazy, or their parents are greedy, or their parents are parasites on society, whatever.

Depriving children for the supposed sins of their parents. Yeah, that's a really smart way to run a society...

I remember when First Lady Michelle Obama suggested school lunches ought to be nutritious. The Right lost their collective minds.
Well, the First Lady had 3 strikes against her: She was a woman, she was a Black American, and she was a Democrat.

That what she suggested made good sense also alienated Republicans, who don't seem particularly attached to the notion of actually doing something to support children, mothers, families (or public schools, for that matter).

All good then, MAGA against calling your neighbors in for suspected abortions now? Going to change those laws?

Yep. This guy is a left wing nut job. And a real a$$hole.

Can’t wait for Vance to shut him down at the debate.

You do realize Covid targeted blacks and the elderly. Both tend to live in southern states.

In addition to their unconstitutional restrictions on the freedoms of the American people, Walz is one of those American Governors who single-handedly destroyed the US economy in 2020.
