Thousands protest at Georgian 'foreign agent' bill​


So the Georgian government is trying to implement a bill that require NGOs to register as "foreign agents", pretty much in the same way as in Russia, where every organization not controlled by the Kremlin is stamped as foreign spies and traitors. Thousands of Georgians have turned out to protest. Georgia's dream of EU membership is basically dead if this bill becomes law.
 
This law has enabled the Kremlin to totally dismantle all independent media in Russia.

If Georgia also adopts such a draconian law, it is no longer fit for EU membership.

It is a mystery to me how and why the Georgian people elected such fascist legislators.

President Salomé Zurabisjvili seem to side with the protesters. This seem to come from Parliament and PM Irakli Garibashvili who gives very Trumpy vibes.

Edit: Looking further into it it seems the current ruling party: Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, is founded by and still bankrolled by oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, who's Pro- Russian.
