Average monthly premiums for families with employer-provided health coverage in California’s private sector nearly doubled over the last 15 years, from just over $1,000 in 2008 to almost $2,000 in 2023, a KFF Health News analysis of federal data shows. That’s more than twice the rate of inflation. Also, employees have had to absorb a growing share of the cost.

This is the same bullshit they do with social security - the myth that the "employer pays half". The employer doesn't pay half, nor does the employer pay for the employee's health insurance. The employee pays for both in the form of lower wages.

Do you see the big dip when Obamacare was enacted?

Some who whine about costs seem truly ignorant, but that never stops some.,,,
First Obamacare was never designed to lower the overall price of healthcare; simply help marginal income citizens afford it....
I'm going to guess those who whine are very ignorant, one might even say a dumb Joe.
Target boosted their entry pay to 15 an hour and still maintained its healthcare program. In Lawton OK, 15 an hour is excellent entry wages.
I guess with the total Charlie Foxtrot that is TACO's administration some koolaid drinkers have to blow smoke where even they can. But like the Felon's attempts to distract, an epic fail.... ✌️

First Obamacare was never designed to lower the overall price of healthcare;

Obama himself claimed it would lower premiums by $2500:

During the 2008 campaign and health care reform debate in 2009, President Obama said repeatedly that his plan would bend the cost curve downward, ultimately saving the average family $2,500 per year.

simply help marginal income citizens afford it....

Subsidizing demand makes the price of healthcare go up, not down.

Medicare Part B monthly premiums, $96.40 in 2008, had risen by 71% to $164.90 in 2023, while CPI inflation from 2008 to 2023 was 42%.

Did you read the link you posted??? I bet not. It states a bit farther down than the headline that insurers were price gouging. Not even TACO can force insurance companied to play nice. Perhaps Obama should have played hardball, but Bohner was calling Obama the most dictatorial President ever. Seems rather silly looking back from TACO's POV. It is funny how hard the Republicants fought price setting for Medicare/Medicaid and VA to negotiate back when Obama was in office but now the Convict has signed a vague EO that might and that is quite a maybe but just might lower or freeze some drug prices.
It does look silly for the kool-aid drinkers to wail about Obama not forcing through his agenda and calling the failure lies when the Orange Buffoon never stops lying. But I get it, the MAGA crowd must fling poo to try and distract from the trainwreck now unfolding in DC. Everyday a new scandal and new set of lies from tRumpland....
But glad you dropped the BS claim that healthcare costs lower wages, at least you're a little bit honest about MAGA rants.... ✌️

Dude, what are you talking about? Trump has made prices for everything lower.

It’s going on this way until it collapses and we replace it with a better financial model. Trying it to employment was a huge mistake.

Do you see the big dip when Obamacare was enacted?

You can, actually. Take those MEPS numbers and bump them against median family income numbers for the U.S.; the available data handily breaks into 13 years of pre-ACA data (1996-2009) and 13 years of ACA era data (2010-2023).

2009
2010
2023

Median Household Income (C)

Employee Contribution as a Percentage of Income (A/C)

The slowdown in health care cost growth is obvious even here.

According to you today, health care should have been 19.3% of GDP by 2023.

That would be $5.35T. In reality, it was $4.866T (17.6% of GDP).

That $484B in lower spending, split across ~84.7M family units in the United States translates into about $5,700 in savings per family in 2023. You could also look at the cumulative savings since 2010 but that should be illustrative enough.

The big dip? Here it is!

What does the uninsured rate have to do with anything?

You’re right- access to healthcare has no relevance to a discussion on healthcare.

It’s not even about people getting sick or dying.

“ The ACA’s removal of cost sharing led to more Americans accessing blood pressure screenings, contraception, wellness visits, HPV vaccination, tobacco cessation counseling, colorectal cancer screenings, and other services—allowing for early detection, treatment, and prevention of health issues and improved long-term health outcomes.13 Increased colonoscopies and mammograms also led to reduced racial and ethnic health disparities among Hispanics and African Americans.14 For women, increased contraceptive use is associated with increased economic security in addition to health benefits: In the first year of no-cost coverage, women saved $1.4 billion on out-of-pocket costs for contraception.15 The ACA’s requirement for coverage of chronic disease screenings has helped improve outcomes in blood pressure control, glucose control, and cardiovascular health.16”

We should put aside all that nonsense and just talk about money.

Achieving all-time highs in coverage while simultaneously achieving all-time lows in health care cost growth is impressive!

Yes, it's very impressive. If the prices get any lower, they'll be giving healthcare away for free!
