'This is your fault': GOP senators clash over government shutdown

Washington: Republican senators clashed and confronted Vice-President Pence at a private luncheon on Thursday, as anger hit a boiling point over the longest government shutdown in history.

"This is your fault," Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican, told Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at one point, according to two Republicans who attended the lunch and witnessed the exchange.

"Are you suggesting I'm enjoying this?" McConnell snapped back.

Johnson spokesman Ben Voelkel confirmed the confrontation. He said Johnson was expressing frustration with the day's proceedings - votes on duelling plans to reopen the government, both of which failed to advance.

COMMENT:-

Are the wheels coming off the wagon? After all Mr. Trump has described the outcome of the votes as a "big victory" for the GOP. So maybe they aren't.

Nope, just shows that republicans are as weak as they have always been. No surprise, but Trump, thankfully, isn't.

So mr. conservative you are now reduced to criticizing your own party to protect trump the invincible? Sad! What happened to reagan's eleventh commandment, R's don't criticize R's in public.

the bill would have passed had schumer and democrats upheld their oath of office to protect the border and pay people.
instead schumer filibustered it.

instead of doing her job pelsoi sent the house on a 3 day weekend while people still are not getting paid.
so much for the working guy mantra of the left.

it is clear they are not interested in anything but get trump. they give a crap about the country national security or getting people back to work.

I criticize whatever and whoever the hell I want to, if I feel they deserve it. By the way, do you think that this does not go on in democrat circles? Of course it does.. McConnell will clean it up, and that is assuming the story is even remotely accurately portrayed in the FSM.. Not all republicans are weak kneed, but some are. ;)

Just wait until Nancy has to begin gagging her new popular arrivals.. That should be fun to watch.

I should think the majority of Trump supporters dont know what ideals a Conservative should stand for, most were not even out of diapers when Reagan was CIC. I should think most are not even aware of who Goldwater was, or even picked up his book.

When Trump gets one indictment thrown at Don Jr or Jared Kushner he's going to "lay down like a dog" and "cry like a baby". He likes using those terms when describing others, but it's him that's going the be the baby dog.

Where do you get the big idea that Pelosi' and Schumer's job is to pass Republican legislation?

For 2 years, Congress funded border security and wall maintenance with the caveat written into funding that NOT ONE DOLLAR BE SPENT ON DONALD TRUMP'S NEW WALL.

If it's Schumer's fault (and it isn't), then why are Republicans in a cat fight to determine which of them is most to blame? I sure didn't see any of them blaming Schumer.

There's exactly zero chance that that will happen. All of this posturing by the democrats is for entertaining their base. Pelosi, and Schumer have zero interest in the reciprocal consequences Trump might use as retribution. He owns the DOJ, and militarize just as much, if not more than Obama ever did, and they KNOW it. They all, and I mean of them have skeletons, whether it's corruption, or insider trading, or whatever corrupt category your heart desires.. They all, can be investigated at the drop of a hat! They KNOW it, and this is all just eye candy for you plebes to gobble up

Trum is the biggest WUSS of the bunch. It's laughably ludicrous that you don't see what a baby he is. Trump is TERRIFIED by the "Rusher thing" He doesn't give **** one about the wall, only obstructing Mueller and the FBI. Trump isn't a "man" by any regard. A failer at being a "man " perhaps at best. :2rofll:

did schumer not just filibuster several bills that would open up government and pay people?
did he not do the same thing in december?

the answer is yes so there you have it.
it is his fault.

facts don't change simply because you don't like them.

Either you're that naive or you're simply in denial. I'm getting the sense that you Trumpers are suddenly turning into 'snowflakes'. It may turn into a blizzard yet.

Congress gave Trump funding expressly to have Border Wall prototypes built.

Six of the eight prototypes for the president's proposed border wall will need substantial re-design, according to a new government report. During tests, teams were able to break through some of the walls --- and scale others.

None of the prototypes made the cut.

all that money down the drain. Until a couple days ago....Trump still did not---Does not have a plan.

More money for what? Incompetence?

That's because Trump and the GOP want to pick "certain" groups to be "relieved" of the shutdown pain. The coast guard is one of those Trump and McConnell are receiving heavy flak about as well as the TSA. Here's a hint, open ALL the government up and stop this nonsense of holding federal workers hostage. The Dems want ALL the government opened up and Trump and the GOP just want "select" groups relieved.

Wall funding got it's votes yesterday. That is constitutional procedures.

The matter at hand is funding the government. It is Trump that is adding Wall funding pork onto the bill.

If Trump removed his pork package, the government would be funded and go on normally. Don't need wall funding to run a government.

It is Trump who is playing politics.
