This is our normal as parents now

Actually no there is not.
If there was..Japan would not have a higher suicide rate than the us.
And Mexico would be one of the safest nations.
Canada would be a cesspool of crime and violence.

So..you are wrong vegas.
Again..lmao.
International comparisons are rarely apples-to-apples.

The word would is used to talk about something that will happen in an imagined situation.

How can an imagined situation prove anyone wrong?

Did I miss where there were actually nuclear bombs dropped on any American schools?

What has changed is that there have been 304 different school shootings in the United States SINCE COLUMBINE and counting.
That very much depends on who is doing the counting. Maybe if you leftists stopped turning schools into massacre magnets by advertising to every nutcase that they are "Gun Free" and intentionally trying to get children killed just to push your leftist anti-gun agenda then there would be fewer school shootings.

It is a different reality for kids today than it was when you Boomers went to school. It is a different reality than even when I, Gen X, went to school. They're DYING IN SCHOOL. We didn't.
Indeed. When I went to high school school we brought are firearms to school with us so we could go hunting right after class. What has changed since then? The unconstitutional Gun Free School Zone Act of 1991, enacted by Democrats naturally, is what changed. The Democratic Party created the conditions for the 1999 Columbine shooting by creating their illegal massacre magnets.

These kids deal with the REALITY that in the United States there is at least 1 mass shooting at a school every single year. It is just a question of whose school is next - is it going to be theirs? We've had kindergarteners shot dead in their classrooms and haven't done a damn thing about it.
Once again, that very much depends on who is doing the counting. I'm fully supportive of removing every Democrat from public office. It is the only way to keep our children safe.

So, no...the duck and cover drills are NOT the same. Not even close. Talking about "duck and cover" drills is just Boomer "walk uphill to school both ways" drivel.
Actually, they are exactly the same. Both serve only one purpose - to instill fear into children.

Your generation didn't get shot and killed in their classrooms.

Once again, that depends on who is doing the counting.

There were certainly school shootings during the 1950s and 1960s. There were 39 school shootings between 1950 and 1969. There have been school shootings in the US since at least 1840.

Ok Boomer.

Typical GenXer, triggered by reality. :ROFLMAO:
Yeah, the generation left to fend for ourselves since we were 7 years old and wore keys around our necks is REALLY known for being "triggered" and out of touch with reality.

This is what I find interesting.
How many times have you compared the us to other nations when it comes to guns?
All the time.
But now ..when those comparisons aren't cherry picked to try and show correlation that does not exist..its " well its rarely apples to apples"..
Too funny.
How many times have anti gunners claimed that " gun laws like other countries would"..
Come now.
The facts are. When you studied gun laws and violence all over the world and not just cherry picking . You find there is no clear correlation between gun laws gun ownership and crime.
That's why anti gunners need to be dishonest and create a different statistic of " gun crime" purposely to deceive Americans into thinking guns make the us less safe.

My 7 year old completed his second security drill of the year today.

Nothing says “Happy Thanksgiving” like a little practice of lights out, quiet and hiding so you don’t die in first grade, right?

And we wonder why there are SO many people that are now completely anti-gun.

This? THIS IS WHY.

Our children are learning and practicing how to hide so maybe they don't die.
all becasue everyone feels entitled to have a gun

Right.. so you make me pay a tax for owning a firearm when I do nothing wrong?
Explain the rationale behind that one?
Then apply it to knives..cars , alcohol, prescription medication..and fast food.
It is not surprising that there will be disagreement on this issue. I am open to any and all ideas that will make our nation safer from gun violence.

The bottom line is we have to do something. The current situation/trend is unacceptable.

We lose far too many lives as the price of unfettered gun freedom.

And we must at least admit that the purpose of the second no longer exists, and thus it is obsolete.

We should be willing to discuss what could replace it and still preserve gun ownership rights for responsible gun owners.

Wow. Seriously deranged thinking here!
The Democratic Party created the conditions for the 1999 Columbine shooting by creating their illegal massacre magnets.
Did I say seriously deranged? I should add monstrously and dangerously deranged thinking!
There were 39 school shootings between 1950 and 1969. There have been school shootings in the US since at least 1840.
It should be noted that most of those 39 "school shootings" resulted in a single death. Several resulted in zero deaths. The exception was the University of Texas tower shooting that killed 18. Before 1970, these random mass shootings of complete innocents that we have today were nearly nonexistent.

Yeah, the generation left to fend for ourselves since we were 7 years old and wore keys around our necks is REALLY known for being "triggered" and out of touch with reality.
I'm sorry your mom left you to fend for yourself when you were 7. I wish your dad had been a better man.

Ah...the "unfettered" falsity.

Claiming a desire to preserve gun ownership rights while simultaneously wanting to replace the amendment that preserves gun ownership rights, seems contradictory.

There have been 32 mass shootings...the type you referred to...since 1982. There are approx 350,000 schools (of all types) in the US. There is a .000000167% chance that any school on any given day is going to to experience a mass shooting.

Meanwhile 10,000 people die every year due to gun violence, most of them minorities, most of them perpetrated by minorities, most of the firearms used are illegally obtained.

If people are serious abotu violence they would address the actual problems and that require studying every case and learning about what could have been done differently...what was missed...how we can do better. The answer is NOT to hysterically shriek about "the children" and use that as a prop to achieve your ultimately goal of targeting the Constitutional rights of 140 million law abiding citizens.

I'm sorry your mom left you to fend for yourself when you were 7. I wish your dad had been a better man.
You should probably try not attacking people's families.

You don't know word one about my father and he was a better man than you could ever aspire to be based simply on the ignorance that you post here daily.

How is expressing sorrow for an individual that outright stated he was a victim of shit parenting "attacking someones family"?

all becasue everyone feels entitled to have a gun
All non-prohibited citizens have the right to have a gun. Many choose not to, and that also is their right.

⦁ Allow individual access to NICS so that private sales can utilize the background check process. Sen Coburn sponsored a bill that would be very effective for this.
⦁ Arrest those who commit felonies while attempting to get guns. In 2010, 72,000 applicants were denied permission to purchase a firearm via the NICS and state systems. 34,000 of these were denied for previous felony convictions. Another 20,000 were denied for state and local prohibited status. Only 10 (10!) were convicted. We still have tens of thousands of people who committed a felony by lying on the Form 4473 and have a violent past free to find guns through illegal means. Given that a violent felon is looking for a gun, how many violent crimes could be prevented by arresting and incarcerating these felons? https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/bjs/grants/239272.pdf
⦁ Focus on the gun dealers and sellers who sell large amounts of guns to ineligible buyers. If the Brady Campaign knows who they are, then ATF knows who the major sellers are.
⦁ Mandatory sentences for those who use guns in acts of criminal violence. Stop plea bargaining away gun crimes. http://chicagoreporter.com/thousand...-being-dismissed-cook-county-criminal-courts/
⦁ Extend the legal possession geographies for CCW holders.
⦁ Go arrest the criminals who have guns illegally now - don't wait for them to commit a crime.
⦁ Fully prosecute and punish straw purchasers. http://www.omaha.com/news/crime/pol...cle_dcd60ace-8716-5651-9125-cb297998694e.html

And we must at least admit that the purpose of the second no longer exists, and thus it is obsolete.
Get the Democrats to start the repeal process.
We should be willing to discuss what could replace it and still preserve gun ownership rights for responsible gun owners.
I know! The 9th Amendment!

In United States v. Cruikshank (1876), the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that, "The right to bear arms is not granted by the Constitution; neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence"

Generation X is referred to as the "latchkey generation"

I'm sorry you can't recognize that metaphor - it is widely known.

I guess recognizing metaphors does require a certain level of sophistication.

YOU LITERALLY stated "left to fend for ourselves since we were 7 years old and wore keys around our necks"

So...that was bullshit then?

Metaphor when speaking to another of your fellow Boomers.

I understand that metaphors are hard. It is ok.

It's well know that righties struggle with third-person pronouns. Looks like some of them are struggling with first-person pronouns as well.

It was a metaphor about Generation X.

In response to the claim that Generation X was:

Typical GenXer, triggered by reality. :ROFLMAO:

Now if you're done with your backtracking of an attempt at a personal insult and sidestepping of an attempt at a personal insult...can we continue the actual conversation or do you still need more explanation and attention?

⦁ Extend the legal possession geographies for CCW holders.
Why?

Why on earth should someone from PA or DE or MD be able to conceal carry here in NJ?

That doesn't make any sense to me.
