This is going to devastate a lot of small and medium size businesses.

If a business owner had a sound and growing business before the virus crisis, rest assure their business will come back when this is over...

The problem is that most businesses are not that healthy even in good times. My bookkeeper once told me that my business was one of the strongest of the hundred she worked even though I had complained to her about my financial struggles to keep the door open.

You have it ass backwards. Lack of intervention allowed businesses to create

“The financial crisis was primarily caused by deregulation in the financial industry. That permitted banks to engage in hedge fund trading with derivatives. Banks then demanded more mortgages to support the profitable sale of these derivatives. They created interest-only loans that became affordable to subprime borrowers.”
What Caused 2008 Global Financial Crisis

Circular logic.

Nonsensical gibberish. And the “destabilized” corporations were referred to in the past tense. Try to keep up.

Class dismissed.

Well, if nothing else, it is now clear that you understand nothing about the economy or how it works.

Wrong. What is clear is that you make unsupported and illogical assertions, then post stupid snark when confronted with actual facts.

You have yet to post a single fact.

I love a good debate, so I’ll continue to wait patiently for your next best effort.

Please feel free to counter my “non-facts” with cogent, fact based, arguments.

Oh, and don’t forget to provide references w/links to support your assertions. You’re new here and apparently don’t understand how this works.

Thanks ;)

I am on record as opposing government bailouts.

And this is one of the reasons I despise the Libertarian ideology. Zealots for the ideology with no idea about the right and wrong and practicality.

Feel free to pick and choose which references you think you have that will stand up to this. https://fee.org/media/14946/economicsinonelesson.pdf

It took me less than a day to read it the first time, so I’m sure you’ll have no trouble with it.

Be smart. Try to avoid ad hominem and see if you can attack facts with facts. Good luck kiddo!

That was a long-winded way of saying you don’t have answers and are scared of the consequences of over a century of economic mismanagement on the part of your government.

Practicality went out the window in 1913. I understand that it may be a tough pill to swallow, but it is a fact.

Sorry, lil’ fella, but that isn’t how debates are conducted. Dumping an online economics lesson as evidence doesn’t prove squat, except that you can find an online economics lesson.

You have to do your own homework and support each of your assertions.

it’s needed aid to help sustain an economy in peril due to government intervention. Two very different situations that both happen to necessitate government intervention.

Fact: those corporations you’re correct in assuming are destructive to the economy, couldn’t have become such economic threats without government intervention in the economy. Democratic and Republican interventionist policies have created them.

Fact: government cannot have a positive impact on the economy without having at least an equal negative impact on the economy.

Fact: government could not have grown into the enormous corporate entity it’s become without committing all the same bad behaviors that have destabilized these huge corporate entities that you claim are responsible for causing economic harm.

I wouldn't bet on that. Some will come back, some won't. That car wash will not postponed it will be eliminated.

My son owns a medium sized screen printing business. Some 25,000 printing jobs have been cancelled in this event based business. These orders will not come back.

You go ahead and keep posting the Libertarian cult script.

1913 oh the horror. Don't forget the illuminati and gold standard.

1913 was a horror. That was the year every American’s productivity was mortgaged in exchange for a no-limit credit line.

Not sure what the Illuminati reference is about, but would you care to opine on the stability of the dollar for the 70 years preceding the Fed?

You have fun with your Libertarian dogma.

I just stopped in to my local mom-and-pop coffee shop in my hood, surprised to see them open. Absolutely no self-service with the cream and sugar. The Guy behind the counter was saying that the owner is doing what they can to keep them open for as long as possible and on payroll. Hecsaid rents due and the landlord wants it, and they don’t care. Just an all-around sad situation. The world is gonna be a little bit different when this is all said and done

The snowball is still at the top of hill and is just beginning to roll down it. Unemployment claims report comes out Thursday morning. Watch how the media covers that. Unprecedented numbers never seen before.

I'm against mandatory shutting down of businesses. Let them decide because it would seem the owners know what's best for them.

If the business owner can’t afford to pay the rent because of a shut down for who knows how long, then the property owner will just try to rent out that space to anybody who has the money. I get it’s all business but a lot of peoples livelihoods are about to be destroyed.

Depends on where you live. Evictions are stayed in my state.

Ummmmmmmmm, this is a thread about businesses. Do you have anything intelligent to say?
I do, and I have.

You are the one who jumped into a conversation solely to troll me, and you’re still trolling.
