Are you saying that unless I declare that America is blissfully peaceful and we all live in perfect harmony I can't love my country? Are you the kind of shallow thinker that believes only conservatives can be patriots?

YOu love something because it is something that is attractive to you.


YOu have defined America in this thread purely by it's negatives. In a thread where you are trying to make the case that you love America, you could not help but to express your extremely negative view of it.

Your stated view of America clashes strongly with your claim to love America.


I have a very POSITIVE view of America. Indeed, you are already arguing that I have an UNFAIRLY or UNREASONABLY positive view of America.

I also have a positive view of America and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I simply have the balls to find its flaws. And I'm not ashamed to point them out. If you think America is flawless then you're deluded.

OK sport, you just stick to the belief that racism and bigotry don't exist in America. I guess some people need denial to make it through the day. And I'm certainly not going to try to upset your sunshiny view of the world.

This nation has had a bi-partisan consensus on equality for blacks since the mid 1960s.

The public debate has been on what types of policy to use to pursue that.

THere has been no national voice for anyone that opposes that, since the mid 60s. Not in national policy in any way.


That is the reality of the situation, with regards to "Racism" as you mean it.


The question is, why do you WANT to believe negative shit about the nation you claim to love?

You're not paying attention. Do believe that "racism" can only exist within the scope of public policy? Or are you just conveniently narrowing the goal posts to make yourself feel better? There are openly racist people all across America. And there are a whole lot of them. If you claim otherwise you're lying. And for the record, YOU'RE the one who brought up slavery and racism. So you can take your feigned incredulity and crawl back under your rock.

On the up side you proved my point quite nicely. There is a large swath of people in America, almost universally Republican, that believe, no....insist that you must love America in a specific way or you don't love America. And every single one of those people is an idiot.

Not really keen on Maple Flavoring in things, oh I will eat it, but like Maple Flavored sausage or bacon or icing on a donut, no, not keen on that.

I haven't tried the bacon bit donuts, yet, perhaps in some future chance meeting with a donut shop that serves them.

I hope the bacon bits are fully cooked to my satisfaction.
