There is No Biblical Basis of The Propsperity Gospel

There is no Biblical basis for the prosperity gospel. To pretend that those who have wealth and success are somehow blessed by God contradicts the very teachings of the Bible and perverts scripture.

Discuss...

LOL you don't even know what prosperity gospel is. so please tell us what you think prosperity gospel is.
however you are right there is no biblical basis for prosperity gospel.

"Live long and prosper". Spok didn't mean to live long and make lots of money. He meant, live long and enjoy much success.

The bible makes NUMEROUS claims to God favoring some over others with bounty.

Yes, generally to make a specific point, more often than not, the righteous suffer tremendously in love, and bear the cross With christ.

Occasionally in the Bible God blesses people with great wealth or lots of livestock, etc. Three examples include Abraham, Solomon, and in the end, Job.

Solomon got a lot of wealth, look at the outcome, and how he got it, through oppressing the People.

Abraham had a lot of wealth, after he gave up everything. Same With Job.

The vast majority of People who serve God suffer and are amung and of and in solidarity With the under class.

What about Dick Cheney & GWB? Were they doing Gods work. Its OK when your side does it, but we must point out the Sins of the other. OK

Logic man is a Republican first, Capitalist apologist second, islamophobe 3rd, disdainer of the poor 4th, a couple other Things, and a Christian might be somewhere way way way back there.

A lot of people don't want to work, or are drug addicts, etc.

But at least in many places there's Christian homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other outreach programs. I have personal experience from serving at a homeless shelter for almost five years that when the twice-a-week Christian service is held, you don't want to light a match in there because of all the alcohol fumes from the transients.

Sounds like something Jesus would say. (sarcasm).

Thanks for this fine exemplification of "Judge not."

Not judging, other than pointing out that logicman is not a serious student of scripture, and not to be taken seriously as anything more than a partisan.

Wrong. God, through his grace and favor, promised it to Solomon at the start of Solomon's reign.

Abraham had a lot of wealth, after he gave up everything. Same With Job.

Nope, and Job didn't give up anything. It was taken from him by Satan.

You rant is nonsense and your usual bs, Racky.

First I'm a Christian, second a Patriot, third a conservative, and I also give to the poor. You, on the other hand, are a confirmed socialist who supports an unbiblical agenda (Redistribution of Wealth - a left-wing economic scheme centered in greed and covetousness for other people's money and property, rather than exercising personal initiative and earning it one's self).

This is more bs. I have two degrees in Biblical Theology, take it quite seriously, and have demonstrated in Post # 59 where you come up short on scriptural knowledge.

Like I told Racky..

Redistribution of Wealth is a left-wing economic scheme centered in greed and covetousness for other people's money and property, rather than exercising personal initiative and earning it one's self.

Of course, you are when you presumptuously take it upon yourself to list his priorities and write "and a Christian might be somewhere way way way back there." At least be honest with yourself here.

I wouldn't be one to talk about. you lack of knowledge and what the bible says surpasses a great many people. more so your distortion of the bible is overwhelmingly apparent.

OL yea Christ would have called those that teach prosperity gospel thieves and turned their tables over.

Listen, anyone who has the murderer Che Guevara as their hero isn't someone whom I find a compelling and credible source of information.

FYI,

The Truth About Che Guevara | World Affairs Journal

I really don't know much about the guy. Some call him a terrorist, some call him a freedom fighter. More than likely both. Same can be said about American Rebels fighting the British a long time ago.

Either way I like to call my avtar Frank Zappa. He was compelling and credible.

Wrong. God, through his grace and favor, promised it to Solomon at the start of Solomon's reign.

Job, lost everything.

God blessed him With wealth, but as the bible says he got a ton of it through oppression, and in the end he left God ... what's the lesson there?

Giving to the poor is one thing, supporting a system that creates tremendous wealth for a few while preventing the vast majority from having any of it is another.

If redistribution of wealth is unbiblical I suggest you read the mosaic Law ... and Jesus' mission statement, and the economic system of the first Century Church.

Capitalism = Systemic greed .... that's what the profit sytem is, systemic, mandated greed.

Do you really ... you wasted Your Money dude, you honestly and in all seriousness, quoted the Zohar as proof that first Century Jews believed in the Trinity .... if you can still do that after 2 degrees in biblical theology I would get my Money back.

BTW, you have 2 degrees and you still don't know basic biblical greek?

Would you like to have a debate here on true debates on the Trinity? Since I have such a lack of knowledge it should be easy right?

A competition on who knows more?

God doubled what he had before (Job 42:10). Would God do that if Job's original wealth was obtained by sinful means? I doubt it.

Also, I see nothing in the latter chapters of the Book of Job that says he left the Lord. In fact in the last chapter he prayed to the Lord for his friends.

If redistribution of wealth is unbiblical I suggest you read the mosaic Law ... and Jesus' mission statement, and the economic system of the first Century Church.

People don't have to be Christians and give. They can even be Christians and give according to their beliefs. But the government will confiscate what you have and even put you in jail if you don't give them what they want.

Capitalism = Systemic greed .... that's what the profit sytem is, systemic, mandated greed.

Move to Cuba if you're offended.

Not only that, but he quoted the Zohar OUT OF CONTEXT. The Zohar talks about many different numbers as having mystical connections, the number 3 is just one of them. The number 7 is also. But, well. can't let facts get in the way of an argument.
