On Oct. 3, TV stations across Florida received letters from the state’s Department of Health threatening prosecution if they continued airing an advertisement in support of Amendment 4, the ballot initiative that would overturn the state’s six-week abortion ban. These letters were signed by John Wilson, who was then serving as the department’s general counsel; they threatened jail time for any media outlet that refused to take down the pro-choice ad. Floridians Protecting Freedom—which sponsored the ad, along with Amendment 4 itself—filed suit against Wilson.

The document alleged that Gov. Ron DeSantis’ top advisers, not Wilson, had concocted the entire scheme to censor ads for Amendment 4. The governor’s advisers drafted the threatening letters, then compelled Wilson to sign them. Wilson sent out the first round of letters, but resigned after DeSantis’ office pressured him to send more. He was now cooperating with the plaintiffs who had sued him just 24 hours earlier. The defendant had become a whistleblower.

Hard to believe this is what the fuss is over......



......seen a gory anti-abortion TV ad here (not florida) the other night and it was followed by a disclaimer that the network was basically required (forced) to air any Ad if it was political in nature, said it had something to do with freedom.

So there is no freedom of speech.

And Americans are so adamant they INVENTED free speech.

In Canada, a woman has a right to her body. Whatever happens is a matter between her and her doctor and NOTHING any government can do can in any way interfere with that. Even a husband has NO SAY and if the doctor doesn't like it there's another one next door.

For a nation that shouts 'freedom of speech' at any turn, there sure are a lot of ****ing rules and restrictions. Are you sure America is "free"?

I don't think it is. I see a police state becoming more militant with every passing day.

There's a clear reason men dominate the vote with Trump, and women with Harris. They're going in two different directions, and Trumps will open doors for Christian Nationalist and they are hell bent on changing this country and its "core" values using the law as they've already started to do in regards to abortion, anti woke policy and immigration.

They want to lock the country down, close the door, and change its fabric. If you look at what has already transpired from Trumps first 4 years, and who's sitting in the seats of power in our congress and Supreme Court you start to get the picture. When you hear their real agenda, you start to get that sick feeling in your gut and we all should listen to it and RUN!

Only white males born in the U.S. have the right to make decisions is their pitch, because... uh oh, now I'm stuck, and we see how well that is working out with their old orange shit-bag cult leader sinking even further into dementia.

Yep, if that historically bad SCOTUS decision giving the president official immunity for certain illegalities didn't wake you up, you're probably dead to the world or a glassy eyed cult member. Also, note how the con majority SCOTUS made this ruling just in time for a convicted felon ex-president who was running for office again after a coup attempt!!!!!!!!

If Trump doesn't win DeSantis' gig is up. It is doubtful Floridians will elect him to the House or Senate. Look for DeSantis to slither out of Florida and suddenly show up in Hungary working for Viktor Orban.
