The war on pot

1. Flawed argument. Give people what they want because it is popular. Popularity factoring into this and other points later down this list. Legal drugs like Tobacco and Alcohol have had huge effects on society.

2. Flawed argument. It's already here and those that smoke it are already doing so? Is that why there are so many brands of beer, spirits, or wines available? Limited access will address the supply but not the demand. Arguing that you won't see increased use on a substance that cheap and popular is just weird. Where as alcohol is difficult to produce, MJ can be grown within your own house. This is already happening in CA where people sell it for profit for "medical use".

3. I agree with this. Unless the Cartels open up their own businesses I see them lowing 1/3 of their annual profits.

4. While their numbers are exaggerated I still agree with this. Tax and regulation will bring in more revenue. Although regulating or taxing a substance that can be grown in your own home fairly difficult.

5. Flawed argument. There is both a stigma and a popularity tag associated with marijuana use. It's counter culture which appeals to natural teen rebellious side. Giving up as the parental or guardian authority then actually trying to argue "and allow us to focus on effective youth drug education programs" is probably the most asinine debate path I've encountered in a while.

*Hey Jimmy, it's ok to do MJ but those Xanex will make your teeth fuzzy. Just be sure to escape from reality for an hour so I can watch the game in peace.

I thought this issue was resolved, already. :rofl

Blatant grave-digging, a'hoy!

I generally agree, except with this part. Parents are not doing this with alcohol, which is much more destructive on the brain and is much more effective if one wants to "escape reality" than marijuana is. Why? Because alcohol is a depressant, marijuana is a stimulant. Alcohol shuts down and slows neural pathways, marijuana activates them. It's why prolonged alcohol usage shrinks brain size, while moderate (prolonged) marijuana usage is linked to increased brain activity (if not outright increased intelligence). If the parent was really concerned about watching the game, he'd set his child up with some Jim Bean. Yet, I don't see you making that argument about alcohol.
