It was very much expected, importers bought oversupply in advance of the tariffs. Because we are already a net importer our GDP math on net exports is a negative number. Front buying before the tariffs hit made this worse.

Our real worry is now that we have negative GDP growth, and the economy is slowing down, what will Q2 end up like.

If negative again we are in recession territory.

I have a financial advisor who handles that side of the investment. My retirement is already continuing its overall trend up. I'm sure there will be other dips in my lifetime, but hopefully no future presidents negatively impact the market and economy to this extent.
