The prior bridge he almost successfully sold was Ukraine's supposed huge treasure of rare minerals. It was too good to be true. Trump was on cloud nine for a while. But that was because he had not looked at the details. Turns out what Zelensky was doing was the equivalent of someone trying to sell off a car that had been repoed. The minerals he was offering Trump in exchange for hundreds of billions of dollars were not his. They are under repo and Putin the repoman is taking possession as we speak. Not necessarily a deal killer. Maybe Trump could work something out with the repoman. Putin the repoman said: fine, bring account current. Trump was not amenable to that. So the minerals' deal died a quiet death. Trump has since not mentioned the deal.
Now, to be fair, between Trump and the Ukrainian Duce it is not clear who is trying to sell whom a mythical castle. They both have their situations and ways. Zelensky's situation is that he really wants big deals but is dead broke. Trump also wants big deals but is very allergic to throwing good money after bad money; and Zelensky is as bad money as bad money can get.

This last day or two it is Zelensky on cloud nine. He is all over the media that he is about to seal a Drone Mega Deal with Trump. Keyword "Mega". Meaning whatever Zelensky wants in return for his drones/drone tech, he wants it big! Is Zelensky planning to exchange say a drone assembled in Ukrainian basements for say a US Patriot system? Zelensky says the US badly needs his drones and drone tech.
So far Trump has been rather silent over this Mega Deal being dangled before him by the Ukrainian Duce; should he pick it up? Before the Duce offers it to say the French?
