The U.S. boycott remains strong. Why many Canadians are digging in their heels

I so agree. The master at making policy during his second term. He's learned a lot from his first term.

I guess now some will say he's our hero, and we're his biggest Trumpers. :ROFLMAO:

You just have really enjoyed the policy of destroying the Epstein list.

Please give some of us credit for avoiding products with growth hormones and antibiotics.

There are US meats and milk designated organic that I would imagine meet Canadian standards. We pay extra, and think it’s worth the extra cost. (Same with organically raised produce.)

I don’t think this is just a California or West Coast thing either.
We pay extra,

No thanks

I rest my case. If you want fair trade, cut the limitations.

Keep your standards, however, drop the ludicrous tariffs. They are not based on standards. And there is that they violate the trade agreement. The Canadian angst at American trade policy seems to be one-sided. You want fair treatment, however you are not offering us the same. And I would like to assume that Canadians are adult enough to not buy products they consider crappy. So why the tariffs?

It's very one-sided and its based on their entitlement.

If there's one thing MAGA agrees on it's support for pedophiles in public office.

Trix voted for one.
Obviously, anyone who voted for Joe Biden voted for a pedophile. According to his own daughter's diary he showered with her at an inappropriate age. And there is his inappropriate behavior around small children at meets and greets at the White House.

And many of them are vacation homes!
Probably many of these homes are generational, handed down and kept in the family.
At any rate, I was blown away when we drove from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole. We went river rafting on the Snake river, and found a favorite restaurant. Shopping was fantastic. Didn't care for our hotel, I should have done more research, and paid more than I did. They get a lot of money for a dump. LOL!

You’ve missed the point of my comments — while growth hormones and antibiotics in meats and dairy are not prohibited by US law, there is a market here for products without them. We’re not all oblivious to nitrites, as you maintain, and we’re not all cheering on the products of industrially produced food in the US.

We understand perfectly why Canada, as well as Europe, bans certain US produced foods — we avoid them too.

Perhaps they have never heard the term "organic".

My local supermarket, part of the largest chain in Canada, has enthusiastically embraced the boycott with signs clearly identifying Canadian products.

Earlier this spring they donated strawberries to local food banks because customers wouldn't buy the US fruit. They now stock strawberries from Mexico.

Liquor store shelves are still bereft of US alcohol products as the Province of Ontario imposed a 100% boycott.

Great. Embrace it. Let's agree to get along per the border and stop trading. Apparently, Canadians embrace this, and so should Americans. Life is about choices.

OMG - PM Carney being treated like California Governor Newsom!

Canadians portrayed as negatively as Californians!

Too much independent thinking, i.e. non Trump and non MAGA.

Their rule book says Canada is never wrong.

So, when is Trump going to end agricultural subsidies and stop dumping corn into Mexico?

Does Trump want to dump subsidized dairy products into Canada?

So the US and Trump are never wrong?

I dunno'. I sometimes poke around on real estate sites, and a lot of this seems to be high-end outside new construction, often enough from celebrities and business moguls.

Jackson Hole has become the new Aspen.

I did that drive with my folks as a kid, but never as an adult. But I swear, the Tetons are some of the most beautiful places on earth. At the least, in the States.

I'm actually considering a driving vacation out there. Not a "fly & drive", but a "drive". Pack a cooler with water, lunchmeat, and sliced bread, head out on I-80, and put the pedal-to-the-metal and speed through Iowa & Nebraska. But Nebraska is so_freaking_long! It never ends!

You'll be back.
I believe that’s statement to be true.

When it is in their best interest to do so and not before.

I’ve read your initial responses in this thread (haven’t read all 10 pages) and I feel what you are missing here is that American products are a choice and not a necessity for Canada. And for many other nations. Either that, or they are willing to undergo trade agreements with others over us.

We are a choice for most nations. They can survive without us. And it is in their best interest to do so…particularly in economic terms.
