The Tweet Heard Round the World

When the discussion is about comments made by politicians concerning Iran, it's beneficial to know and understand the history behind the subject.

Without perspective -- it's a shallow, one-sided discussion.

So that includes Trump's tweets saying that Obama will start a war with Iran to get re-elected, and here we are now with Trump warmongering against Iran?

Absolutely. It includes all of that. It's called bluster and some are just better at it than others.

Bluster huh?

Well I know we've come to expect hot air from our politicians, but I would rather we use appropriate diplomacy. Something Trump is horrible at.

So here we have Trump accusing Obama of using a possible fight with Iran to boost ratings and get re-elected. And now Trump is actually trying to pick a fight with Iran. Guess it's just a ploy to boost numbers and get re-elected.

Indeed a POTUS tweeting is a whole new ballgame, but I don't think in and of itself that it's irrational.
I think in cases like Trump's caps-lock bluster, we just don't know exactly what he's responding to.
Although I have to say that pushing back mightily at people who chant, "Death to America" doesn't bother me as much as it does to some, apparently;)

Tweeting as a means of communication isn't the problem; it's what's communicated through that medium that matters more. Trump was responding to the contents of a speech Rouhani made yesterday and I'm assuming Trump is reacting to Rouhani's "Peace with Iran would be the mother of all peace and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars" comment since it's the closest quote from his speech to any kind of threat. As I stated before, a response to comments aren't what bother me; it's their content and delivery which do, and as a major power in the world I expect this country's leadership to carry itself in a professional manner and not like some irate teenager flaming someone on social media.

As for Iran, I don't think we're going to bring change there using force and aggression. That tactic only hardens and justifies the hard liners and you'll never be free of hard liners if the change is forced from an external source.

It probably was a ploy -- that's what they do. They BS as much as they can.

Here's Hillary's comment on Iran when she was running against Obama:

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran (if it attacks Israel),” Clinton said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them,” she said.

“That’s a terrible thing to say but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish and tragic,” Clinton said.

Now, that's a LOT of bluster.

I don't know why you're so surprised -- they do that sort of thing.

What happens if Iran threatens again?

dt — delirious tremors — will start a war — declare martial law — and cancel the elections — all things he’s accused DEMs of planning — that’s how insanity thinks — we broke the agreement the rest of the world still recognizes

Hillary lost. She was also a warhawk Republocrat, who would of course want nothing more than expand the Infinity War because it feeds her corporate backers.

And even in all of that, it wasn't some unhinged, all caps tweet like Trump threw out. Bluster? Talking out of his ass is more like it.

But I guess he's just trying to provoke a war to get re-elected.

There are no Republocrats, just purity progs and libs.

Don't know if being bellicose will work with Iran.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but bluster and actions are usually two very different things.

I think this is genius on the part of Trump.

He can tweet something he wants to say to anybody and the idiots in the media will take that message to whoever was meant to receive it even if that person doesn't have a twitter account and Trump didn't have to leave his bedroom.

The Iran war is going to be like the NK war and collusion and impeachment; a collection of liberal wet dreams.

Your mindless approval of anything Trump does is fascinating.

What kind of president tweets "NEVER NEVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN"? This is Iran. They've been threatening the U.S. for decades. Remember, "Death to America?" It's meaningless.

So, what happens when they threaten the U.S. again? Will we go to war over some words?

You can't answer this because you're support of Trump is mindless.

Guess you don't remember the Trump/Kim exchanges.

Well we know that Trump is a no-action sort of guy. We've seen that with NK. Talking out of his ass is what this is. It's not "bluster", it's saber rattling. Trying to look like the big man. But if his accusations against Obama are to be taken, then they come back here. And thus, he's trying to start a war with Iran to get re-elected.

Guess you don't remember the Trump/Kim exchanges.

As Kim ramps up his nuclear arsenal — as trump gave away military exercises to Kim — how’s that working for Republicans — as North Korea now demands something ‘big’ from the United States of America

We've already included that -- what are you attempting to add at this point?

Oops, sorry, missed your #TrumpIsNeverWrong treatment a few posts back.  I think Ikari said all that needs to be said, I retract. :)

...bluster, huh?
