Here's a thread where we can all gather and discuss all the ways donalds moronic actions raise the cost of living.

"The consumer price index increased 3% in January from a year ago, according to the report from the Labor Department, which showed an increase of 2.9% in the previous month. It has risen from a three-and-a-half-year low of 2.4% in September."

This is in direct conflict with donalds campaign trail promises:
"We will end inflation and make America affordable again, and we’re going to get the prices down. We have to get them down,” he said at a rally in September. “It’s too much. Groceries, cars, everything. We’re going to get the prices down.”

It's only been 3 weeks.
Will inflation continue to rise under donald?
All one has to do is watch how he operates, and you'll see the answer is a resounding "yes".

3 weeks. The rise in January is still Biden spending as he rushed threw spending with emergency EO's that bypassed regular safeguards to frivilous spending and the result was an increase in inflation to go with all that extra spending.
Democrats won't tell you that.

Well, over the last few days I have been reading a lot of comments from Righties on various threads and they all have the same answer about why inflation is happening and why eggs are going up in price not down.

Their answer................

It's ALL Biden's fault.

I mean, literally verbatim. It's not just two or three or four of the Righties on here. They ALL echo each other. Literally, they ALL say the same thing without variation.

Must come from watching Fox News.

I barely got this posted and sure enough, here is another example..............

The rise in January is still Biden spending

This post is wildly ignorant.

Honest, i can't be bothered.

Peace

What was the rate of inflation during Trump's first term?

Let's wait for the February inflation rate as the MoM inflation rate began rising at the start of FY2025, October 2024.

we aren't talking about his first term, are we now? do try n keep up.
You say Trump's policy will not curb inflation, yet it already has worked out favorably during his last term. He must be doing something right...

Ahhhh....so that's how Fox is pitching it !!! GOT IT!

I agree Trump doesn't own the January report but he does own the fact he has broken his promise to address it day one. He was elected to fix it ,he promised he'd fix it and he at least owes the voters a plan.

Never heard of something working the first time but not working the next time??

However, I DO understand that there is a need to resort to a tu quoque, otherwise known as a whataboutism

whatabout
Trump's first term? A common tactic to avoid answering a current dilemma.

You forgot to include Obama lol
No.....I have often said that there is very little President's can do to imact inflation one way or another. While it's true they can influence the economy for good and for bad but not inflation. The economy and inflation are two different things as we saw over the last 4 years.

His policies did not curb inflation in his last term.

Quick lesson. Covid depressed demand......no inflation.

After Biden was elected the world started coming out of Covid, demand was skyrocketing. Reduced supply capacity (due to covid) could not ramp up as quickly as demand did, leading to scarcity, which causes prices to rise.

That is inflation.

It was global and not related to Biden's policies.

The US did fair better on inflation than most of the rest of the world under Biden's leadership.

Inflation was decreasing.

Trump took office and instituted rarrifs and pulled funding. Inflation is increasing again.

The rightwing WSJ editorial board slowly remembering today that Trump is a moron:

Trumponomics and Rising Inflation
Does President Trump understand money? Not money as in cash, but the supply of money, the price of money as measured by interest rates, and their impact on inflation? The answer would appear to be no after Mr. Trump called for lower interest rates on Wednesday—the same day the Labor Department reported an increase in inflation for the third straight month.
The Powell Fed is likely to ignore Mr. Trump, and well it should. But the President’s demand illustrates another risk of Trumponomics. As a real-estate investor, Mr. Trump has long been an easy-money guy. He likes low rates and a weak dollar, which could lead to higher prices, all other things being equal.

You are really far gone. You think inflation was reduced during the covid years?

No. It just proves trump already knows how to keep inflation low. Now the hard part for you is going to be accepting that as fact.

Let's wait for the February inflation rate as the MoM inflation rate began rising at the start of FY2025, October 2024.
Last month, the Peterson Institute for International Economics predicted that Trump’s policies — the deportations, import taxes and efforts to erode the Fed’s independence — would drive consumer prices sharply higher two years into his second term. Peterson’s analysis concluded that inflation, which would otherwise register 1.9% in 2026, would instead jump to between 6% and 9.3% if Trump’s economic proposals were adopted.

Of course, this is "expert" analysis.
Right wingers don't trust "experts".
They only trust donald, billionaires and right wing media.

Nah, inflation is still high. If it goes higher, I am sure you will know why. Something about Biden or Democrats or those resisting Trump or unfair treatment by other countries. I am sure the blame will NEVER be on Trump.
I wish you could accept THAT fact.

You think trump is the reason for inflation ONE MONTH in???

You say Trump's policy will not curb inflation, yet it already has worked out favorably during his last term. He must be doing something right...
Mismanaging a pandemic is not a policy.

You think trump is the reason for inflation ONE MONTH in???
Right wing propaganda claimed Biden caused all the inflation suffered by coming out of the pandemic.
So, donald is certainly to blame now.
Which part confuses you?

You think trump is the reason for inflation ONE MONTH in???
I posted a poll, maybe take a look, and vote for HOW LONG it will be before it stops being Biden's fault. Maybe another month? A year? or it will always be someone else's fault but not Trump's?
First reflecting back to his first presidency instead of dealing with the current situation, then excusing why it's not working this time around without committing to an opinion when Trump should get the blame if it doesn't change.
Oh well, those of us who have been on here a while already understand that nothing can ever be Trump's fault.
