The Trump campaign has over $1 million in outstanding bills from American cities

Albuquerque has joined a lengthy list of U.S. cities with a simple request: that President Trump’s campaign pay for the costs incurred during a rally. On Wednesday, the Albuquerque Journal reported that the city sent an invoice to Trump’s reelection campaign in an effort to recoup more than $211,000 in expenses from a September rally. That figure includes more than $71,000 in police overtime. The Trump campaign’s indifference to municipal bills became a significant issue earlier this month when the city of Minneapolis attempted to get paid in advance for a rally Trump was planning to hold in the city. The president and his campaign publicly berated Minneapolis’s mayor. But even then it was easy to see why a city would want Trump’s team to pay in advance. As the Minneapolis rally loomed, CNN went back to a number of cities that had been identified in June by the Center for Public Integrity as places with outstanding bills in to the Trump campaign. CNN found that there was at least $841,000 still outstanding. The total, though, is more than that: Dave Levinthal, who reported the initial tallies for the Center for Public Integrity, confirmed in an email to The Washington Post on Thursday that he had checked back with all the cities he had identified in July and that none had been paid as of his most recent outreach.

Adding in the bill from Albuquerque, that brings the total outstanding bill to more than $1 million — $1,052,395.78, to be precise. El Paso, which hasn’t been paid for costs from a February rally, added a late fee of about $99,000 earlier this year, bringing the total to $1,151,183.36. Add in the $530,000 that Minneapolis was originally seeking and the total nears $1.7 million. Before being elected president, Trump had earned a reputation for not paying vendors who had done work for the Trump Organization. In the context of Trump’s campaign, these costs are not significant. Earlier this week, the Republican Party celebrated having raised more than $300 million through the first three quarters of 2019. Reimbursing these cities for the costs they incurred from Trump’s rallies, then, would eat up a little more than a day’s average fundraising. Don’t expect that to happen.

As he was in New York with contractors, Trump is still a deadbeat. Cities should wise up and demand an estimated payment in advance.

BFD. Leftists owe the taxpayers $40M for a worthless Russia Russia Russia hoax.

Appears you did not know Manafort’s fine covered the entire cost of the Mueller investigation

Nope, the properties seized from Manafort and Flynn offset the bill. The treasury is still waiting for the reimbursement of the Benghazi witch hunt, however!

This is misinformation spread by the TDS'rs. The Obama campaign never paid anything to cities toward his security and the cities never billed him for anything. But, the TDS infected cities send Trump a bill for something that they never sent Obama a bill for and then claim that Trump doesn't pay his bills.

Yeah, Manafort doesn't have anything to do with Russia Russia Russia, though. Nice try. How much has Adam (Pencil Neck) Schitt spent on his little Dog n' Pony show? ANd will he pay back the American taxpayer for his schittshow?

Damn, I just said that! Also:

Mueller probe: Costly investigation could break even after condo fight

Michael Cohen, the president's former personal attorney; Richard Gates, former Trump campaign deputy; Michael Flynn, former Trump national security adviser; George Papadopoulos, former campaign foreign policy adviser; and Alex van der Zwaan, a Dutch attorney whose firm was linked to Manafort’s work, all have been either assessed fines and fees or face financial penalties related to their convictions in the Russia inquiry and related investigations.

If the bills are legitimate they should be paid. What was asked for in Minneapolis was excessive and they should not be paid.

30-someodd indictments, including 25 for directly interfering in the election, and all you pseudo patriots think it was a waste of time. All that stuff the investigation uncovered should have just stayed covered up, right?
Besides, which leftists were involved? Mueller is a life-long Republican and was working for Trump's A-G office. If it was a waste of time and money it was the Trump administration doing the wasting.
Now the Trump Department of Justice is investigating itself. How's that make you feel?

I have to laugh at the same people complaining about this who support the taxpayers subsidizing healthcare for illegal aliens and forgiving all college loan debt.

Yep. I hear DJT put ketch up on his steak too. Melania wears high heels and DJT drinks diet coke. Dang.

Yeah, what a joke leftists have become.

I'm always surprised when people are willing to sell their souls to apologize for a politician. So unAmerican.

How did the collection go?

Far better than the cities trying to collect what is owed to them from the Trump campaign.

At the time the two plea deals for the fines were negotiated, the two seizures were estimated to as much as $46 mil. The assets were turned over to banks for disposition. At auction and negotiated sales, less than $21 million was actualized. Minus $4 mil in bank fees, auction fees, and maintenance costs, the government realized less than $12.5 mil. First position secured creditors received the balance. 10% of the seized properties are still in bank hands with no buyers in sight. Details.

<shrug> $12.5 million. If that's true - Much more of a contribution into the treasury that was reimbursed by the Benghazi witch hunt - which was a GOP dog and pony show that indicted no one!

Do you have a citation for all of that?

Nobody has indicated that Trump shouldn't pay his bills, unlike the left who ONLY care about Trump's bills. Pointing out the gross hypocrisy of liberals isn't un-American. It's a vital public service.

He's not paying his campaign bills. He thinks American cities should front the costs for his campaign rallies.

Why should he pay for the cost of keeping the antifa at bay. Let the dems pay. Their monkeys, their circus.

I checked the collection rates for most of the cities shown, some show no evidence of attempted collection. For almost each case their was contention over the billings, most waiting for arbitration. Similarly, Hilary's campaign still owes cities more than $6 mil. Again, most in contention and waiting for arbitration.

The City of White Plains NY, nearby where she lives, claims a security debt of $2 mil. She visited White Plains twice during her campaign with full Secret Service details and her own private security. She visited NYC 32 times during her campaign, the total bill came to $980k, fully paid.

I guess you think Minneapolis trying to charge him $500K when they charged Obama $20K, is fine and dandy.
