The Three Greatest TV shows ever

Barney Miller, Night Court, Hill Street Blues, and I'll add a fourth: Barreta.

Perry Mason Theme, Peter Gunn Theme, Beverly HillBillies Theme. I'll give you a fourth here, too: The Theme from Naked City (Harlem Nocturne).

No time for links now, I'm running out the door ...

Twilight Zone

I know the OP isn’t being serious, though I thoroughly enjoyed the shows he listed when I was a kid, but I’ll play along.

The Wire.

There is no mercy in this category. The Wire and, especially, David Simon, KILL.

i dug those three shows when i was a kid.

When we were kids playing football at the park, we would stop the game no matter what the score was to run home and watch the Dukes.

around that time for me, it was Dukes of Hazzard, The Incredible Hulk, and CHiPs. seems like two of those were on Tuesday or Thursday, but that was like 35 years ago, so i'm not sure. i don't remember what night A Team was on, but that was another great show that we watched regularly.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Speaking of nostalgia, what things take you back to your childhood? For me it's professional Wrestling and Hee Haw simply because it brings me back to the one day as kids that we were guaranteed to have off every week, except for church and Sunday school.

One of the fondest memories of my childhood is Sunday morning. After Sunday school, we had the rest of the entire day off because there were no chores on Sunday. My little brother and I would run home as fast as we could so we watch the last half hour of professional Wrestling, more specifically All Star Wrestling or the AWA as it was known. Then we would go outside and wrestle in the back woods and horse around and stuff. We came in for supper when our mom called and then we all ate supper. Then my dad and us boys went into the living room and watched Hee Haw while the girls cleaned up and did the dishes. My dad would put his feet up and drink beer while us boys wrestled on the floor. We all hooted and hollered and laughed at the show while my mom and the girls sat at the kitchen table and talked and occasionally brought us popcorn and drinks.

I have to admit, the room gets a little dusty when I see these videos:

Mash, Seinfeld, All in the family, Hill street blues.

I would agree with your list except for one, Sienfeld. I found it over rated and it broke no new ground. I would replace Seinfeld with I Love Lucy. All in the Family at the top were it belongs. Nice list !

I could ago a long with your choices. I Love Lucy was a classic. :2razz:

My Dad loved Seinfeld, lots of folks did. I probably have seen 6 episodes, it just did not work for me. My guilty pleasure, The Golden Girls

Hill Street Blues. Hands down the best cop show ever, both then and now.

All in the Family. Best sitcom ever.

St Elsewhere. Best hospital drama

Dallas. Best soap at night

Northern Exposure. Best quirky show that no one ever watched.

Carol Burnett. Best variety show ever.

Agree

Dallas its first 4-seasons was proof a Soap could attract more than the stay at home Mom, well written. It was a world wide hit.

Seinfeld broke no new ground? I find it quite unique.
Oh, I see, you're passing judgment on Seinfeld after having seen 6 episodes... Okaaaaayyyyy....

I have to go with:

Battlestar Galactica (the remake)
Babylon 5
M*A*S*H

But then I like mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy. I almost put in Game of Thrones for the third.

It could be I just find Seinfeld the comic not funny. His stand up was like watching paint dry, only thing worse is sitting thru Sinbads routine. Star Search has a lot to answer for.

Star Trek. Funny thing, the show really didn't become popular until after it was canceled and the reruns were shown everyday after school...which basically turned it into a cult following and multi-billion dollar enterprise. How many TV shows claim that?

These were some of my favorites...

Dick Van Dyke Show.

All in the Family.

Mayberry.

Roseanne

Outer Limits
Twilight Zone

For some reason I really liked westerns: Maverick, Rawhide, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Death Valley Days, Little House on the Prairie...

MASH
NYPD Blue
Hill Street Blues

Oh, I am very serious. Classic television right there in my list.

Then I'll agree with all of your choices. :D

Knight Rider was good along with Airwolf, Hardcastle and McCormick, and the very underrated Riptide. The Fall Guy edges out Knight Rider IMO based on theme songs and the premise of a stunt man who chases escaped felons as a bounty hunter for extra cash with Heather Locklear tagging along beside him.
