Because of the Darien Gap. A 100 km stretch of mountains, jungle and terrain that is uncrossable. For that segment, you actually have to get on a boat that takes you to Columbia. Looking at the image even shows the ferry taking you around the gap.
So you really can't drive the entire way.

Also misleading. The lighthouse’s ice is not from an ice storm, but continued breaking waves, probably with pretty fierce North winds. I think that’s the lighthouse at St. Joseph, MI.However, also misleading as you can not really drive all the way from North America to South America.

The creepiest shit I've ever seen was on a lonely rural Manitoba highway on a very cold winter night. I encountered very heavy ice fog. It was like I was all alone in the universe.An example of a Brocken specter. This was taken by a wildlife photographer at Bempton Cliffs a couple weeks ago.
It's not a supernatural thing. It's something that occurs when conditions are just right (light, mist etc). Creepy as shit, ain't it?

After I blast them with some 12 gauge, yes they are harmless, and surprisingly easy to kill.
