So legalized pot is going well in both states. People are not smoking more pot and the attitude of our teens has not changed because of it. They love the drug as much now as they did before. The fact is these common sense laws ( Col's new law is better that Wash's) should be adopted everywhere and the cash will flow into the state and not the dealers. Damn isn't that what we where saying all along. We always knew you anti drug warriors where full of **** and now we all know it. We need to shut these moralist up on other issues too.

Agree

I know people that have left Florida to move to CO to get on unemployment there and get dope. Sounds like a wonderful plan.

Why was pot illegal in the first place. You live there so you would know better than I but don't Aussies drink like fish? I read it is not uncommon to go have a few beers at lunch while working down there. Pot is a far safer drug that booze. Why would we hate one but love the other? That my friend would be hypocritical now wouldn't it? I never said you what a hypocrite but if that is your attitude it would be.

The fact is these moral crusaders caused harm. They made it hard to work because of drug testing, sent Dare into our schools to encourage kids to narc off their parents for smoking pot and flooded our prisons with non violent drug offenders. Oh by the way those kids who narced off their parents ended up in foster home even if their parents where good parents.

Anecdotal evidence isn't a particularly effective way to judge laws.

Under federalism states can use their policing powers as they choose. I assume you now support federalism.

Not when states make it legal to discriminate against groups like gays or pot smokers. I don't like laws that dictate personal morality like drug laws or gambling. Now for the type of sin that hurts others then I am all for laws that stop that.

I agree with legalization, but don't think we should entrust the government with another nickel, until they prove they can be good stewards of our largess.

I'm generally pro legalization, but legalization in Colorado hasn't gone without problems. A black market has formed there to sell the stuff out of state, so the whole issue of crime, organized crime, and all the problems that go with it have hardly been solved.

You're not to rainbows and unicorns yet. Never will be.

Yep. My opinion is strictly non partisan.

I think the reality is it is expensive to run this country and all those austerity spewing right wingers learn that real quick. I think if we got everybody working and getting a living wage that would increase revenue, lower the welfare ranks and fix alot of these problems. Their is a price to be paid for sending 10 million manufacturing jobs overseas and forcing people to work for less or no pay.

Then I guess all those red states need to change their policies too. Their is go good reason for pot to be illegal anywhere.

Allllll righty then.

But they are not going to do that, so the crime problem gets magnified.

James...I keep telling you...and you just won't listen...that facts are your friend.

First of all, I am a supporter of Colorado's legal marijuana law. I voted for it. But I don't just assume a rosy outcome because I like the law. I look around. I research the facts. And, guess what James...it's not all sunshine and lollipops.

Depending on who you listen to, there are good and there are bad results of this law.

Six Months In, How Has Marijuana Legalization Treated Colorado?

Drug problems increase after pot legalization, police say | 9news.com

Colorado employers increase testing for drug use, survey shows - The Denver Post

Feds worry that drug cartels are moving into Colo.

And we shouldn't forget the fact that the State isn't getting quite the amount of tax revenue they were expecting.

Colorado's missing marijuana taxes - Sep. 2, 2014

So, James, while I do agree with you that all States...and even the Federal government...would be well served in making marijuana legal, I do recognize that there can and are problems with it. But I believe the elimination of the undesirable effects of the drug will greatly outweigh the potential problems of legal marijuana.

Have I asked you yet if you believe the consent of the governed is important for a free republic?

Who should decide what the rules are we agree to live under? Must I be one of a couple of men or women wearing a black robe and proclaiming infinite wisdom and the divine right of kings?

Why do you use the language of groups? Are we not all individuals?

Let's say that I completely agree with you. I will summarize what I believe is your libertarian stance that we own oru bodies and can do what we choose to do with them. Let's also say tht we can do whatever we want up until the point where it harms others. Now what? How do we decide what our rules, in our community, will be?
