BREAKING: The second presidential debate between Biden and Trump will be virtual, the Commission on Presidential Debates announces. The move comes after the President's coronavirus diagnosis

Wonder if President Spreader will agree to that format... Should be easy to cut off his audio...
True, somehow trump will find a way to back out, if he doesn't I hope they will keep his mic off while Biden is talking but live the camera feed on him, his antics would be entertaining.

Stupid idea. Will there be independent observers in both locations ensuring that no cheating takes place?

Good. I don't think it will matter, but at least we know they are safe. And it will help to curtail the interruptions. Although it would be hilarious if Trump just started talking while muted (I imagine virtual will look sort of like a zoom meeting, possibly standing up, but we'll see).

Why would it matter, honestly? Is anyone really going to change their minds about this election based on these next two debates?

Honesty is the issue. Imagine the candidates having a teleprompter assisting the candidates in giving their answers. Part of debates is anticipating the questions. Once the questions are given those in the background can easily put up the answer they want their man to give.

Umm, trump is positive for covid, and the idea that he will be no threat by the time of the debate is ludicrous. My guess is trump will say no and that will be that for the debates.

They’ve already demonstrated with the vice presidential debates that precautions can be taken. Hell, put them in a bubble if needed. This is a sham.

Yes they can. But this won't make any difference at this point.

What happened to honesty when the President was supposed to get tested before the last debate, and didn't? What happened to following the rules for the debate when not only were there so many interruptions that they found someone was interrupted literally every minute of that 90 minute debate, but also when the President's family didn't even follow the rules set forth for wearing masks inside the debate hall? Are rules only to be followed for debates when it comes to specific ones like not being prompted for answers?

I don't care how they do this debate because it won't change my vote. I know it won't change the votes of 99% of the public.

I think he did. Do have a citation for this?

Chris Wallace claimed he wasn't, that he arrived late.

According to Wallace, they were supposed to be on the honor system when it came to the testing.

How so, can't trump answer questions on a live feed, he spends lots of time on twitter and that seems to be fine with him and his supporters?

I hope Donny chooses a venue (insists on it) where he can spew COVID cooties all over a closely packed unmasked crowd of adoring family and fans!

I love the idea their mics could be readily cut in this new debate format.

Will be interesting to see how Donny Dip Stick reacts to being remote.

This is a sham.

How, exactly, is this new plan a sham?

This is sane and rational precaution taking.

Too funny..."sham".

:ROFLMAO:

I also wanted to point out that you completely seemed to avoid answering the other two points/questions about rules on interrupting (which I realize both candidates did do, but it cannot be denied that Trump did it more) or wearing masks (which only Trump's team broke).

It really is crazy what some people will do during a pandemic with one of the candidates infected.

Perhaps Wallace should do a better job of investigating.

The Cleveland Clinic released a statement in reaction Friday. It reads:
“Our thoughts are with the President, First Lady and all of our guests. As health advisor to the Commission on Presidential Debates and the host site, we had requirements to maintain a safe environment that align with CDC guidelines- including social distancing, hand sanitizing, temperature checks and masking. Most importantly, everyone permitted inside the debate hall tested negative for COVID-19 prior to entry. Individuals traveling with both candidates, including the candidates themselves, had been tested and tested negative by their respective campaigns.

roflmao

how does Trump attempt to cheat in a debate? lollololol

This actually favors Trump. The more they let Trump be Trump (asshole), the less chance he has of being elected.

In other words, he reported to the them that he tested negative. They could not have confirmed it themselves. We all know that Trump lies to protect himself, for his own gain. It is not at all unreasonable to believe that Trump knew he tested positive before the debate and wanted to do it anyway, possibly even wanting to expose Biden or others to it. Trump is a ruthless businessman and he is not at all above trying to get his opponent sick, especially if he knew he had it already.
